Let’s Discuss Privilege

Privilege is all about your upbringing.

It’s a privilege to know your father, have him sit at the dinner table before it’s time for you to leave the nest.

There are other privileges, such as this, that the black community have given up voluntarily, and there is nothing anyone else can do about that.

  1. The “privilege” of paying taxes.
    The “privilege” of hard work.
    The “privilege” of saving.
The “privilege” of putting off buying stuff til you can afford it.
    The “privilege” of reading.
    The “privilege” of math.
The “privilege” of learning from the mistakes of others.
The “privilege” of donating to charity.
The “privilege” of dying for the rights of others.
The “privilege” of being grievously wounded in service to your country.
    The “privilege” of supporting rat-people.
The “privilege” of watching elections stolen.
The “privilege” of being lied to by politicians.
The “privilege” of seeing 100 years of effort burned in one night because of some racist stirring up a bunch of tribal ignoramuses.
The “privilege” of seeing America turned into a shit-hole by reprehensible maggots.
The “privilege” of being lectured by stupid people.
The “privilege” of mass media mendacity.
The “privilege” of … oh, what’s the fukkin use?

  2. Abigail Adams, I have that painting of George Washington bowing on his knees and praying on my wall in the front room of my house. My late wife bought it for me many years ago and it’s been prominently displayed ever since then. I have never received any complaints about it but then for the most part I don’t willingly associate with people who don’t like that painting.

  3. geoff the aardvark — I would love to have that painting! I was (white) privileged to be able to visit Mount Vernon and saw the original on display there. We have a 4′ X 5.5′ replica of the Declaration of Independence mounted in a glassed-in shadow box hanging on our dining room wall. Because we give occasional neighborhood parties, there are several Left-leaning (though clueless) neighbors who have no doubts of our politics.

I’m glad you have such a wonderful reminder of your late wife and her values close by. It’s a beautiful painting.
