TMZ has an interview with publisher Judith Regan where she says the book “If I Did It” had the “If” put in because OJ couldn’t confess to his children.
“If” was added so OJ would have that continued deniability.
Regan claims the OJ team admitted that the book was a confession.

The book (and it’s publishing rights) actually became the property of the Goldman family as part of their suit against OJ. They published it several years ago with OJ’s title, but the word “If” was printed so lightly it was barely visible on the cover.
I bought a copy when it was first published only because I knew the profits were going to OJ’s victims, not to OJ.
And I was convinced from the first page it was his true confession.

I bought “If I Did It” after all the profits from it were awarded to the Goldman family. I haven’t read it–don’t need to. I did read “Outrage” by Vincent Bugliosi. Confirmed what we already knew. He is guilty as hell.
