Majority of young adults who moved back in with parents during pandemic still live there

Just The News

The majority of young adults who moved back home with their parents at the outset of the pandemic still live there, according to a new survey, a sign that the economic fallout surrounding pandemic policies in the U.S. continues to squeeze more and more Americans.

Many adults who had just recently graduated college opted to head home at the start of the pandemic in the U.S., when businesses closed, urban centers shut down, and financial situations became precarious overnight.

LendingTree reported last week that “nearly a third (32%) of millennials and Gen Zers moved back home with their parents during the pandemic,” with the company finding this summer that “most still live there.”

“Two-thirds of young adults who moved back home remain with their parents. Slightly more than half (51%) of those who moved home say it was out of necessity,” the financial services firm said.  more

  1. Blame the parents.
Help wanted signs posted at every business who managed to stay open post pandemic, and their over educated brats who chose to major in DEI (now whining 10k student loan forgiveness is not enough), can’t find a job?

Good luck parents, your failure to say no has consequences. You’ve done a disservice to your children as well as yourselves.

  2. ^^^^^^^
    Not necessarily.
Our daughter moved in because her building was sold, everyone kicked out and rents raised by $500+.
A studio in our area starts at $1800 per month. On too of that, statistically Maine is the highest taxed in the country.
The state has been made unaffordable by libidiot policies.
My house is paid off but I get to pay the town $350 per mo for the privilege of living here. Everything here is taxed. We are the oldest state in the country. Young people can’t make a living so they leave.
Gov General Mills’ solution? Bring in illegals from Africa and give them $60,000 a yr of our tax $. More than the average income in the state.

  3. Beachmom,

    I agree with you.

(As long as your Daughter didn’t study Interpretive Dance & Gender Studies for 4 years at a Liberal Shit-hole College) – Knowing you, I doubt that.

Cheers, & Have a good evening.

  4. Cynic,

    “Fester-man”
“Fist-In-Man” – (good for a lot of other Demos though)
    “Fest-In-Stein”
    “FIST-In-Stein”
    “Lurch-In-Stein”

We need something that combines Uncle Fester, Frankenstein & Lurch.

The useless Bastage actually has a chance because OZ is such a Flake.

  5. What’s changed to enable them to leave?
Notice how things aren’t much better since beating the scamdemic drum has toned down?
It’s always going to be one created crisis after another with current policy.
