A homeowner was convicted of assault after he attacked a salesperson who knocked ‘too aggressively’ on his door.
Andrew Lester, 39, exploded in wrath because he was tired of the kids in Abertillery, Wales, constantly banging on his door and running away.
In June of last year, Newport Crown Court heard that door-to-door salesperson Kerry Hagerty, a grandfather, knocked on Lester’s front door. When Lester answered, he became “worked up” and he lashed out.
He reportedly informed authorities that he let Mr. Hegarty in after he pounded ‘very hard’ on his door.
Mr. Hagerty claims that Lester was “extremely violent,” swearing at him, taking his sunglasses to shatter them, punching him, knocking him to the floor, and standing over him while cursing.
Mr. Hagerty, whose shoulder was dislocated in the assault, had surgery performed under general anesthesia to realign his elbow.
“I’ve never been through anything like this before,” he remarked. The assault had no apparent provocation.
No, I can’t go outside and play with my grandkids. He was set on attacking me no matter what. What occurred to me will have lasting consequences.
