No one arrested, no threat to public safety. WTF? Must be a Muzzie insider.

Wow. 5am? Was he on Guard Duty? God Bless him , his family, and friends. Was it murder or “work place violence”? Bad Brad may have a point.
PHenry. Is that location on or off post?

I heard that it’s an accidental discharge!

I had a friend that joined the Marines out of HS back in 1971 who was killed by an accidental discharge of his gun while on duty. It’s a pity because he was a good guy and I liked him a lot. He was also the first one in my graduating class in 1971 to join the military.

Looks like he was shot by someone else. So again WTF?
How come Bad Brad gets seven TUs in an nanno second.? For saying something stupid?

Bad Brad, WTF does that give us?
I think I will wait till NCIS finishes their investigation before I’ll take an internet blog as gospel.

“He was on duty”
On base? Probably carrying a side arm?
“Was not a self inflicted gun shot wound”
Odds are, someone else shot him.
The Gateway labeled it a Murder.
Ivan has a good point. Could have been someone elses ND.

seriously people, take a deep breath
first off, 8th & I is the proper address of the Marine Corps (not ‘corpse’) Barracks in DC, the one the Anacostia waterfront, guarding the Naval Yard.
second, does anyone think the feral are out 5 AM in the morning on the first day of the New Year?
third, it could be a result of ‘accidental discharge’ from another duty personnel
fourth, it could be ‘accidental discharge’ … hard to believe, but w/ live ammo …. stuff happens
fifth, everything we conclude, at this point, is conjecture, no real facts are know, except that a Marine is dead … let it play out
… & in the end, we still will not know the truth …. sadly

Yeah. someone else, the phucking butler did it. Good night.
From my experience, there are a lot of people on duty at any given time on a base like that. Not that many of them stand a duty/watch that requires them to carry a weapon. I’m just gonna have to wait to see what unfolds, you never can tell what the results may be.

ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ- “… does anyone think the feral are out 5 AM in the morning on the first day of the New Year?”
yes
When I was in Philly, years ago, it was pretty common for people to take the train up to NYC for New Year’s Eve in Times Square, party on, then catch a train back to Philly for the Mummer’s Parade on New Year’s Day. Come out of a subway stop on Broad Street and party on. The good old days. I didn’t say this, but I actually woke up in jail one year. They then kicked me out. And I had money in my pockets. I guess that was when Philly cops were good.
There are people out at all hours- they just haven’t gone home, if they have one.

NEW: DC police source tells me Marine shot and killed at the barracks this morning appears to have been shot by accident. Happened during shift change when weapons are supposed to be unloaded before being passed to next shift. Appears that didn’t happen. @fox5dc
