Medical Brace Fraud Busted By The Feds

Federal authorities announced yesterday that they have broken up a $1.2 billion Medicare fraud. “The conspiracy used TV and online advertisements to encourage Medicare-eligible people to call international call centers, which then pre-qualified the person as Medicare-eligible and linked them up with doctors, telemedicine companies and medical equipment companies that went on to bill Medicare “millions upon millions of dollars,” federal officials said.”

I think these were the same people who kept calling me offering a “free medical brace,” sometimes three or four times a day. Not too long ago those calls stopped.

  1. I was hounded with phone calls asking if I needed a knee or back brace. WTF! I told my doctor about it and he said that they charge Medicare $1,000 for a knee brace. I kept one on the line for over 30 minutes (wasting his time), inquiring about the braces. In the end I said WTF would I want one of those things, there’s nothing wrong with my knee or back. Clunk.

  2. I only see television when at my mother’s home. Practically all the commercials are for prescription medicine… makes me wonder what kind of scam they are running there.

  3. The real problem here is that we tax payers are on the hook for “Millions upon millions….” due to inefficient government! THAT really pisses me off!

  4. I’m somebody that requires some braces for my legs, but you wanna know what really pisses me off?….The price of eyeglasses. They don’t cost more then $20 to produce even for designer frames and then they want $200-$600 for them….and kiss my ass about being scratch resistant….

  5. Try having you optometrist write the prescription for your glasses and then have an online eyeglass company fill it. My last pair, with very good frames and a special tint coating and upgraded anti scratch coating as well, ran me less than 40$.

  6. I have received these calls and knew something was up. I began thinking how did they know me and my information as they would use your name. I am thinking AARP as they are scumbags.
