The mother of Michael Brown has announced she’s entering the political fray in the St. Louis suburb where her unarmed teenage son was shot dead by police in 2014. In an event organized down the street from where 18-year-old Brown was shot dead by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, Lezley McSpadden told a crowd Friday she’s running to become a member of the Ferguson, Mo. City Council. “Almost four years ago to this day, I ran down this very street, and my son was covered in a sheet,” McSpadden said, per NBC News.
“I learned to walk again, and this is one of my first steps.” As KSDK notes, McSpadden’s announcement comes at a conspicuous time in the history of a case that helped spark widespread demonstrations against the deaths of black Americans at the hands of police.
She represents what is so wrong in America today, no sense of shame. Her husband initiated a riot that cost over $26 million minimum. Her son’s death has led to the “Ferguson Effect” and has probably cost tons of people their lives due to lack of police response. To act as though she had even raised her son to “Do the right thing” is laughable given video evidence and sworn testimony of eye witnesses who are people of color. But, as the case with so many communities, it is not about doing what is right, it is trying to make up for a perceived injustice when justice has already been served.
The most unqualified person for the job given her son was a thug who got what he deserved for attacking the police. If she is elected, the voters who put her there deserve her lack of integrity.
She will want to initiate a policy that every city council vote will now be “hands up to vote”

If she cared so much about her community she could have gotten herself together a long time ago and raised a son who would not have become a monster.
Clearly, she’s a reflection of Ferguson – a sorry excuse for a city.

Well, why not. She received her high school diploma last year at age 37 so she’s more than qualified. A few years earlier she and some friends attacked her former mother-in-law who was selling Micheal Brown Tee shirts in a parking lot so she already knows how to destroy small businesses.
