Michigan Bill An Attack on the Electoral College

Just the News

A proposed bill could change the way Michigan votes for president.

House Bill 4156 would enter Michigan into the National Popular Vote Compact, an agreement among participating states to elect the president by national popular vote.

This means Michigan, as well as all other compact member states, would pledge to allocate all of its electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate receives the greatest number of votes nationwide, rather than statewide popular vote. More

  1. There’s already a process laid out in the Constitution for voting for President. If Michigan wants to deviate from that, fine, but that should mean that whatever result they come up with is null and void until they’re back in compliance.

  2. I love Michigan, but hate our government. Queen Gretch is trying her best to become the worst governor and beat out all the others in the race to destroy our state.

When she is through with her current term, she wants to be president.

Her two cronies, Benson and Nessel, are just as bad and will take over for the Queen next term.

  3. It sure seems that the states who want their electoral votes to go for the candidate winning the majority of votes probably would go for the Democrat anyway.

With that being said, how much you want to bet that if their state goes for the Democrat candidate but the Republican wins the majority, all of a sudden they are going to say, “Oops, we should follow the traditional way of doing it after all,” effectively changing the law without legislative action. You know, like many of them did in 2020.

It also seems that having their electoral college votes go to whomever wins the majority effectively tells the voters in their state, “We don’t care what you say.”

  4. This unconstitutional compact is a recipe for endless electoral litigation.

I thank Al Gore for dragging the Presidential election into this swamp. He shoulda stuck to stuff he’s good at, like inventing internets and inspiring love stories.

  5. Each state should use the electoral college system. This would prevent the large cities from electing libs. It’s so basic yet genius. Each county gets an electoral vote. Most of the cheatig is gone.
