Might As Well Post This – I Watch It A Lot – Cheap Trick: Taxman, Live at Daryl’s House

You work hard, you make money
There ain’t no one in this world who can stop you
You work hard, you went hungry
Now the taxman is out to get you

You worked hard
And you slaved and slaved for years
Break your back, sweat a lot
Well, it’s just not fair

He hates you, he loves money
And he’ll steal your shit and think that it’s funny
Like the Beatles he ain’t human
Now the taxman is out to get you

You worked hard
And slaved and slaved for years
You played
And you played and played for years

[Chorus]
Taxman, Mr. Heath
He’s looking for a run-in, yeah
Taxman, Mr. Heath
He’s looking for a run-in, a run-in yeah yeah

Taxman, Mr. Heath
He’s looking for a run-in, yeah
Taxman is a thief
He’s looking for a run-in, a run-in yeah yeah

[Instrumental Interlude]

[Verse 3]
You work hard, you make money
There ain’t no one in this world who can stop you
You work hard, you went hungry
Now the taxman is out to get you

You worked hard
And you slaved and slaved for years
Break your back, sweat a lot
Well, it’s just not fair

[Chorus]
Taxman, Mr. Heath
He’s looking for a run-in, yeah
Taxman, he’s a thief
He’s looking for a run-in, a run-in yeah yeah

  1. I, like I’m sure a lot of you, have something constantly gnawing at the back of my cranium. Exactly what band did Mr Pinko play with/on. Cheap Trick just seems so fitting. Lol

  2. Wow. Don’t even recognize them any more.

I first saw them in a bar in Wisconsin. Bun E. walked in the first door with his little black case and the hat he wore like he had somewhere to get to quickly because he had a life to save or something. I had no idea who he was at the time, but as he passed the waiting line I yelled out: “Make room for the doctor” because his “look” and demeanor was way different than all the dope heads waiting in line. Hey, it was the 70s. He obviously had his act together.

The ceiling was very low over the stage and Nielsen kept flicking off acoustic tiles during their set. Quite a few on the floor by the end. He rocked the place.

Zander played the saxophone on stage for the first time that night.

They were just another band to us at the time, but they were entertaining.

I’ve seen a few bands in bars that had great commercial success before and after seeing them, but the oddest, to me, was seeing Styx in a Jr High gym with about 50 people in attendance. They were already on the radio and was getting frequent air time. It seemed so desperate it really shook my perception of them and the music industry. I was expecting something more than what happened.

Mr. Kakalogical bought me a band Tshirt for my 60th birthday earlier this year.
It was Cheap Trick. I had to ask who it was, LOL.
I had introduced Mr. Kakalogical to some bands from when I was a sweet young thing: Cheap Trick, INXS, Metallica, David Bowie.
This was great. I still love these rockers!
