Last Sunday, The New York Times published a front-page article about the heartfelt need of California farmers for more illegal aliens.
The first tip-off that heinous public policy ideas were coming was that the Times introduced farmer Chuck Herrin, owner of a farm-labor contracting company, as a “lifelong Republican.” That’s Times-speak for “liberal.”
Herrin admitted that he employs a lot of illegal aliens and bitterly complained that they lived in fear of “Border Patrol and deportations.” (But, apparently, he doesn’t live in fear of admitting he’s violating our immigration laws.)
Sorry that running a country inconveniences you, Chuck.
He said his illegal alien employees deserved amnesty because if “we keep them here and not do anything for them once they get old, that’s really extortion.”
As the punch line goes, “What’s this ‘we,’ paleface?”
Taxpayers have been subsidizing Chuck Herrin’s underpayment of his illegal labor force for decades, with skyrocketing taxes to pay for schools, roads, bridges, food stamps, health care and so on. Now Herrin thinks “we” are supposed to support his illegal employees in their old age, too.
Here’s another idea: How about a federal law mandating that employers of illegal aliens take responsibility for the people they hire? Why is the taxpayer on the hook for illegal aliens’ food, housing and medical care, when Chuck Herrin got 100 percent of the profit from their cheap labor?
We don’t allow chemical companies to dump pollutants in rivers, walk away and then say, “If we dump chemicals in rivers and we don’t clean them once the plant is gone, that’s really criminal.”
No, you dumped the chemicals — not “we.” And you, Chuck Herrin, got the cheap labor — not “we.”
“We” got hospital emergency rooms jammed with illegal aliens when we came in with heart attacks. “We” got the crime, drunk-driving and drug trafficking associated with illegal aliens. “We” got the overcrowded schools filled with kids whose illegal alien parents don’t pay property taxes. “We” got to press “one” for English.
“… we keep them here …”
Sorry, Charlie, WE don’t KEEP them here …
they are here illegally and should be prosecuted, their assets seized, and deported, buck naked across the border.

This time, Coulter presents sound reasoning to a touchy topic. However, conservatives like Coulter – who abhor the “browning of America” – make it very difficult for other conservatives to effectively address immigration issues. I think there are enough USA citizens available right now to do the work Americans don’t want to do.
The only thing stopping them is that they’re too busy collecting welfare benefits, talking on they ObamaPhone, getting stoned, and ain’t none of them got no time for dat werk stuff.
I like Coulter generally speaking, but just when you’re convinced she’s conservative, she comes out in love with Mitt Romney or Chris Christie.
Now she’s out of love with the latter.

Peter: I have less of a problem with skin color than I do with culture, and unfortunately, it is the “brown cultures” that tend to be violent and criminal.
Waitaminnit…I thought the EPA had shut down all of the irrigation, and the Central Valley was a parched desert. Now they need more Mexicans to pick the crops? Who turned on the water tap again? And if it hasn’t been turned back on, what are the Mexicans going to pick? Something doesn’t add up here.
This was one of the best Coulter pieces that I have read in a long time.
Among many other accepted, “that’s just the way we do things around here”, practices, it’s time to say WE the tax payers are not going to subsidize businesses profits from cheap labor, at the expense of our personal well being, national economy and civil law.

A couple of years ago there was a shortage of fruit pickers for the orchards in NY state. Fruit was rotting on the trees. No workers could be found.
In the same paper was an article about the gov’t running out of funds for welfare. No one besides me saw the irony in the 2 articles. Why are any welfare / unemployment checks issued when there are jobs begging to be filled?

While I don’t disagree with what I see of this particular article, I am still waiting for Ann’s public apology to conservatives. I am boycotting Ann.
