It was a long and damaging winter to the streets of Milwaukee, WI, leading to a bumper crop of potholes this spring.
According to local WTMJ4, just one crater alone on W Lisbon Ave has been responsible for 12 tires and 4 rims at an estimated cost of $5,126.92. More
The city’s judiciary committee, has yet to pay any of the claims filed by angry motorists. According to the chairs, ““I think that’s kind of lousy because it’s not fair.” However, the state law making the city responsible was struck eight years ago and according to Alderman Mark Borkowski, “Very simple, we don’t have the money.” More
Nobody listens.
All about a proper subgrade.
Done right once, it’ll last 10x longer.
Done cheapest, it will be redone annually at 10x the price.
They are complaining after one year? I’ve been dodging the same holes for more than four years in New York!
When the german autobahn was built in the 30’s it was poured 27″ thick. A good portion of that remains in use today. Do it once if you do it right.
^ Yeah, and full of German steel.
“… one crater alone on W Lisbon Ave has been responsible for 12 tires and 4 rims …”
Aren’t you supposed to watch where your going?
I was taught (50 years ago) to look in the direction I was driving.
Car moving forward; look forward.
Car moving backward; look backward.
Duh!

Right you are Tim! Pay attention to driving or you might have drive around with the lights on for a half hour just trying to get outta one them damn things!
Tim, do you live in a northern climate?? Your comment makes me think not.
They don’t fill ’em until the pot hole is big enough to swallow The Hop.
The Hop is the mayor’s new choo-choo train.
Despite all that wonderful Obama stimulus money we took a few years back, Milwaukee streets continue to suck a big one year after year.
Just had to pick up some cargo at the airport last week, holy crap, the streets in the surrounding area off Layton Ave. were the worst I’ve seen yet, embarrassing to have that bad in a high-traffic area.
But, the GOOD news is that in my area of the suburbs, we have lots and lots of those neat bike lanes that nobody ever uses where half of them literally end with whatever unlucky biker finding themselves literally wedged between cars at various intersections due to piss-poor planning. Best trillion dollars ever spent!
Graceia,
I live in South Central Missouri.
Gets below zero in the Winter.
My property is on a dirt road that is infested with potholes.
Driving to get the mail is similar to running a slalom.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Tim. I live much farther north in Northern Ontario. When I am in the city, sometimes you literally cannot go around a pothole in the asphalt because of traffic. This time of the year, it is a nightmare.
