There are currently more than 450 providers in the state who submit claims for Medicaid reimbursement. When the program first got off the ground in 2017, claims totaled more than $1 million.
But the program has exploded – last year, claims totaled more than $220 million.
DHS [Minnesota Department of Human Services] said it stepped up enforcement late last year, around the time the feds raided two autism centers suspected of billing the state more than $20 million for services never provided.
“I was never thinking somebody is going to submit fake bills,” Dr. [Eric] Larsson [with the Lovaas Institute Midwest] said.
Larsson told 5 INVESTIGATES that he only started to get suspicious last year when he and his staff tried calling providers in the state directory.
He couldn’t reach at least 100 of them.
“No apparent email address, no website. Nobody is answering the phone,” he said. “They’re certainly not trying to deliver services.” More

Claims of ADD in particular are easy to dispense with. When one of the rotten bastards bastards has emerged from mom’s basement and trashed someone else’s property and mom brings up ADD as an excuse.
