Vanishing Point, one of those quirky, quintessential early 70’s movies that you either loved or hated. Kowalski plowing into that bull dozer stoned out of his mind in that Dodge Challenger with music by Mountain, The Byrds etc. is still etched in my mind from when I first saw it at a drive in theater back in the early 70’s.
@ Bad_Brad
Vanishing Point was one of my fave movies as a 14 y.o.
MOPARs kicked ass.
At 16 I had a friend with a Road Runner – 383 hemi.
Real good times.
Love that song
383’s were not hemi’s btw
They weren’t? My bad.
Thanks for the correction.
He gave stock `vettes a run for their money.
Needed a lot of attention, though.
‘Hey Gene! Where’s your Lightning Bolt?’ (Nicknamed because of a jagged scratch near the right front headlight)
“It’s Plymouths turn to have it.”
There was a guy who lived up the street from us who had a 69 Dodge Superbee. That was probably the baddest of all the bad ass cars back then. We could hear him running that monster up and down the street at a high rate of speed late at night. It was barely street legal which is one of the reasons Nascar banned them in the early 70’s. The darned things could do 200 mph. And my youngest brother had a 69 Ford Torino with a 429 Cobra Jet motor in it that he won in a poker game. It was so powerful that it scared the hell out of him and he had to get rid of it. He wishes he would’ve kept the motor though if nothing else from that car.
Leslie (?) West was a fukkin mountain!

I’m partial to Nantucket Sleighride (to Owen Coffin)
Classic rock is about all I listen to. in my humble opinion it required much more talent than most of today’s music and it takes me back to where and when I was when I first heard it.Mississippi Queen rocks!
I think this song could use a little more cowbell.
The piano trill is the big hook. You know what I’m talking about. Tell me you didn’t air-piano that part.
speaking of 6 packs, I had a 58 chev impala convertible w/348 and 3 2’s and a 3 speed back in 71
that was a keeper, but my pop made me sell it.
Leslie West …. man, the legend, the fingers ….
Which BTW, had to have been about the size of pool cues ….
How he managed what he did on a Les Paul in ‘Theme From An Imaginary Western’ …. I remain astonished to this day …. h/t to MJA
Sidebar: another ‘giant’ with an ax is Johnny Hiland
Fascinating – arguably one of THE MOST fluid THE MOST technically efficient.
MJA one of my favorite songs. Love to blast it to 11.
Thanks gurl!
Those were the days my friends. We had never even heard of a muzzie and democrats were not so much anti American. Ugh
The were way ahead of their time…..
And it’s still fresh today
I had that album. Long time ago.
I liked that album. A long time ago.
“Is this the river life? Is this just Tennessee?
Caught in a flood plain, no escape from topography…”
Good toonz!
MAGA! 😉 https://youtu.be/lMsIrKjSM6Y
Saw Mountain along with Sweathog and the J. Geils Band in 1974 at the Long Beach Arena. Good concert from what I remember, if you know what I mean.

Room mate had a 70 Cuda with 3 two barrel carburetors, a hurst shifter and strobe stripes. Fastest car I was ever in. Don’t remember the model name.
Mountain “Climbing” was in the 8 track often.
