Conservative Treehouse: It was the Mississippi primary race between 40-year-term Senator Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel in 2014 that reveled just how far the GOPe would go to keep a grip on their power.  The establishment and Mitch McConnell were willing to do anything to protect Thad Cochran despite his infirmity and near certain senility.

Senator Cochran was barely awake for the past few years.  Today his staff announce his retirement effective April 1st:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, today announced his intention to resign from the U.S. Senate effective April 1, 2018.

“I regret my health has become an ongoing challenge. I intend to fulfill my responsibilities and commitments to the people of Mississippi and the Senate through the completion of the 2018 appropriations cycle, after which I will formally retire from the U.S. Senate. MORE

  1. Had it not been for GWB and Rove he would never been there. And the fu*kin Rove had the bal*s to smirk on Fox and say “too bad Reagan lovers!”? fuc* you Karl!
Talk about immoral, dirty, crooked politicians! GWB and Rove are “the sleazyiest!”
Maxine does not play the “Race Card” nearly as well as GWB has for 25 years!

Burn in Hel* Thad, you leftist Bush tool!

  2. Good news. They’ve been propping him up with the same stem cell/ blood of virgins cocktail they give Pelosi.

I hope their Governor appoints Roy Moore to complete Cochran’s term.

  3. When RNC calls for a fund raising, I tell them I give to individual candidates. As they work their points, I always throw in “I remember Mississippi”. Always followed by, “Why isn’t the wall funded?”, “Why hasn’t Obamacare been completely repealed?”, “Why does Planned Parenthood continue to receive Federal dollars?” and on and on.

Unfailingly polite. Am happy to engage in conversation with the. But try to firmly make the point that they will receive no money from me until they start keeping their promises.

    > I wonder which establishment RINO McCONnell and Rove will find to turn the seat over to the democrats.

If he hurries, I think Mittens could strap a dog to the roof, and git down to Mississippi by April.

  5. I showed Cochran his new office in the Longworth … he seemed like a nice guy … laughing and joking with the “hired help” – unlike SOME newly-elected Representatives.

    izlamo delenda est …
