Moody Blues singer John Lodge dead at 82

FOX:
John Lodge, the legendary bassist and vocalist of The Moody Blues, has died. He was 82.

In a statement shared with Fox News Digital on Friday, Lodge’s family said that he died “suddenly and unexpectedly.” The family added that Lodge “peacefully slipped away surrounded by his loved ones and the sounds of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly.”

Birmingham-born Lodge joined The Moody Blues in 1966, two years after its formation, along with fellow singer Justin Hayward, following the departure of Denny Laine and Clint Warwick. He remained with the band until they stopped performing live in 2018. more here

  1. The most epic concert we ever attended was Moody Blues in The Gorge. It was a beautiful August night and the Columbia River was the backdrop. As always, a full orchestra (the Spokane symphony).

We camped out with friends in Vantage.

Very good times. John Lodge, Hayward, and the original crew.

    RIP Mr. Lodge.

  2. Dear Abby, I mean Claudia. LOL, this could be huge gurl. Anyway, my wife gets pissed when I take over the Denon super entertainment center via Blue Tooth. Who new? Interrupting such classics as Beverly Hills Plastic House Wife’s. WTF? Any way, shes not happy. And the ceiling speaker covers no longer stay attached. Is that really my fault? I mean what the heck? Hollywood House Whores or Ten Years After? Am I a bad person? LOL

  3. A more recent version of Knights In White Satin backed up by an orchestra is awesome. All of it is great, especially the flute solo. You can see the flutist is the same guy that did the original but naturally a much older chap.

  6. Brad,

Check out the “BRYSTON” web site.

I have Their Amps, speakers from Lexington Kentucky, cables from Cardas, etc.
20 year warranty. I needed a repair on my Surround sound processor. 8 years later and they charged me roughly $120 & shipping.

And when you unplug them, you can use the 4Bsst3 for arm curls.

    Cheers.

  7. We are all getting older. As we see our mentors and hero’s pass on we realize our own mortality.
A great band with great musicians.
Getting old is not fun but inevitable. But their music will live on forever.

  8. One of my favorite bands of all time. I believe all of them except Justin Hayward are gone now – McClaine, Warwick, Thomas, Pinder and Edge from the original lineup and now John Lodge. RIP Mr. Lodge – as a part of my youth, you were more than just a singer in a rock and roll band.

That song is “Nights in White Satin ” and shortly after it’s release Justin Hayward married his wife. They have a daughter named Doremi , Lovely name for a musical family – DoReMi for the first 3 notes of the scale.
We Boomers share a love for some of the best music ever !!
Rest in Peace, Mr. Lodge – do believe that you’re in the Heavenly Choir now.
