DailyCaller: Hundreds of thousands of fake posts supporting a government takeover of the internet’s most essential infrastructure bombarded a Federal Communications Commission’s forum for public comments on net neutrality in the past month.
The Daily Caller News Foundation (TheDCNF) pulled a random sample of nearly 10,000 “pro-net neutrality” comments and called the people who provided input to verify their authenticity.
Of the respondents, 44 percent answered “yes” when asked if they could recall submitting a public comment supporting the regulations imposed by the FCC under the Obama administration. In contrast, 39 percent denied having submitted a comment, or were unable to recall doing so. Around 17 percent refused to answer the question, or hung up before proper communication. read more
Bot programs. Dirt cheap. Just program, plug in and forget.
Amazon ratings, social media likes, Obama twitter followers. All bots.
Live internet trolling is already quaint and obsolete.
I wish I could say I am shocked but fake news has left me numb.
I’ve seen the same thing happen on FERC’s comment filing system. If you have the “in” and a few dollars you can paint whatever semblance of public opinion that best serves your interests.
There’s an old, but still common, expression you’re all probably familiar with: “in the worst way”. Whenever I hear someone say that I always reply, “Oh, then you want the government to do it.” Because pretty much everything the government does, it does in the worst way possible.
Nothing good will come of federal regulation of the internet. In fact as long as people like Obama keep getting elected the government will continue to be used for evil. Even though we may be a little safer from that for the next 7 1/2 years or so we should never approve of the government taking more power to regulate more things.
When picking orange juice the other day, there were dozens of varieties: pulp, no pulp, some pulp, with pineapple juice, etc. It is amazing that capitalism causes these mean evil companies to strive so hard to please little ol’ me. If the government ran the orange juice business, we would get orange juice. There would be no attempt to actually go above and beyond to please the consumer. What the government offers is good enough.
I like the capitalism version better.
Imagine if Government decided to nationalize and take over the Restaurant industry. For public health, and “for the children”.
Lousy food. Lousy service. Constant shortages of everything. DMV mentality.
You would be “assigned” a location, and given a numbered card, and your card would only admit you to that location.
Reservations required. 6 to 12 week waits, minimum. Long, long lines once there.
Government does nothing well.
One version of absolute insanity, wanting the government to run everything!
Only those who were forced by circumstances would agree to a government takeover.
I’d like to know who triggered or paid for the bots. That’s the main part of the story.
