Mother Questions the PHDs Who Claim Slaves Came To America As Immigrants

The woman has a good point. If your daughter was sold into the sex trade and ended up in Thailand, did she emigrate there?

I don’t think so.Screen Shot 2015-10-04 at 9.11.18 PM

  1. I can understand her indignance, as I have seen countless examples of whitewashing and revisionism in my childrens’ textbooks for the last decade. And it is good that she noticed that it was Education PhD’s who were responsible for that particular bit of omission.

However, she may want to consider that slavery is indeed a de facto form of immigration, that slaves are indeed workers and that perhaps it might be more productive for black kids to focus on the immigrant aspect of their origins, rather than the forever-a-slave rut. And if the African slave occasionally gets short-shrifted by the Irish indentured servant, well, now she knows how I’ve felt many times.

  2. The history books should also include that it was a black former indentured servant who sued for the right to own another human as a slave for life. In 1654 Anthony Johnson, Virginia, successfully entered slavery into the legal code where only indentured servitude had existed previously.

He argued that the African he owned had been a slave in Africa (as all slaves brought to the colonies had been) and therefore he was his slave for life.

From 1654 until 1864; two hundred and ten years, slavey existed in the United States. And all because of Anthony Johnson.

    Even PBS acknowledges it! http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/secret/famous/johnson.html

  3. The Arabs castrated their male slaves and bred their female slaves out of their blackness over generations. Everybody the world over, except the Brits and the Americans, and the Spanish to a lesser extent (Christians) killed or castrated the males and utilized the females.

  4. Although I agree with the lady, losing sight of the terrible conditions forced on white immigrants, the Irish and Italian workers were considered throw aways. A black ‘worker’ was an investment, only the foolish and crule don’t take care of an investment.
For horrific examples, read Two Years Before the Mast.
It’s about time she learned those with a PhD in education are usually educated well beyond their intelligence.
