Mr. Nice Guy

Alice Cooper is asked about his Christian faith and provides a very down to earth common sense reply.

  1. That smile looks like he just heard that Cuomo passed away.

    Oh Larry, that was uncalled for. Lord, I apologize, and be with the starvin’ Pygmies down there in New Guinea. Amen.

  2. I never knew that much about AC. A couple of years ago he was scheduled to perform at the state fair. As a preliminary he was interviewed on a local talk radio station. He talked about some stuff he was doing with old bands and songs and about his faith. Which was a surprise to me as it did not fit with what I thought I knew about him.

    Maybe some people will hear his message. otoh. I recall 15 years ago some friends went to see Bob Dylan and a lot of his songs were about his faith, which upset those friends who didn’t want to hear it they only wanted to hear more of his classic songs.

  3. For a musician, he looks younger than 66. And I heard that he supported Bush for president. The make up is mostly what kept me from ever being a fan, but his testimony could change my opinion – if he shows it in his music. He does have the power to reach lots of people.

  4. I’m a big Alice Cooper fan from the old days.
    True story:
    About ten years ago during the holidays the discussion turned to Marilyn Manson. My mother started talking about how she first heard of him and how appalled all the parents were about his antics. My brother ask when this was and she said back when we were grade school.
    Mom, that was Alice Cooper.

  5. No surprise to us old rockers here in AZ. Vincent Fornier (real name) is a terrific guy. Alice Cooper is his portrayal/caricature of crude excess, hedonism and “devil made me do it.”

  6. I’ve been a fan since the early 1970s. Saw him once with the original band on the Billion Dollar Babies tour and once during the Welcome To My Nightmare days. I only end up admiring him more over the years.

  7. Thanks Dave for the tune. Very good Cooper. I saw him perform in Sturgis SD at the buffalo chip in early september kicking off a new tour.

    I knew of his Christian roots, PK and all that, and heard of him returning to Christ in that same time period. He says he doesnt perform in the same spirit and he is cautious about his lyrics. He has a sincere heart and I pray others see Christ in him.

  8. What Roadmaster said. Big difference between a stage persona, and the real-life man behind it.
    Two more seemingly unlikely Christians:
    the late Tiny Tim. Raised Lebanese Catholic (his real name was Herbert Khaury), had a “born-again” experience in his teens, and consistently thanked Christ publicly throughout his career, whether he was performing on THE TONIGHT SHOW or in some bar in front of a few drunks;
    the late Andy Warhol: homosexual, but a lifelong celibate; a Catholic soup-kitchen volunteer and regular attendee at Byzantine Rite Mass to the end of his life.
