BFH for American Thinker –
SCOTUS, on June 23, ruled 8-1 in favor of the plaintiff, Brandi Levy, in a case involving her suspension after badmouthing her school on social media. Her profanity-laced diatribe was posted on SnapChat. She wrote the message after she failed to make the Varsity Squad and was being kept on the Junior Varsity Squad.
Her rant: “F— school f— softball f— cheer f— everything,” accompanied a picture of herself, and a friend, showing the middle finger. (Note: she did not self-censor.)
A student took a screenshot of the message and showed it to the cheerleading squad’s coach, and Brandi was subsequently kicked off the team. The parents made numerous appeals, which ascended through the appellate courts, eventually reaching the Supreme Court.
At stake was the issue of whether a school has authority to take disciplinary action when a student speaks outside school grounds.
Schools have argued that…

Garbage mouthed and entitled little vermin thinks the world should bend to her wishes.
A generation of insufferable brats doesn’t bode well for the future.
If you haven’t decided to take your children out of the Public School system; How many more reasons do you need to make the decision?
Why hobble your children’s lives by allowing them to be indoctrinated by anti-American ideology in poorly rated and failed public schools.
She should be free to expose herself as a little foul-mouthed brat. Just as a boy posing with a pistol at a shooting range should be able to post the pic.
I have mixed reaction to this. I would allow my daughter to say this same thing about her school if a trany boy took a spot from her…so this should apply to all ( was not the case here). I hope more students call a spade a spade off campus, with no penalties from schools…am I reading the decision wrong?
One aspect of this case that was not lost on me; all participants in this “mess” were females, the girl that got kicked off the team, the friend accomplice in the photo, the girl on the team that saw the photo whose mom shared with her friend who was the woman in charge on the drill team, the principal of the school who booted her off the team, and the mom of the booted girl who thought her daughter was Rosa Parks, deserving of SCOTUS attention.
Years ago when I coached the local HS tennis team I only handled the boy’s team, I knew that girls and their drama and the moms that accompanied that drama would suck all the joy right out of the job.
Our gynocentric culture is wrought with peril, mostly for men who try to navigate it but it has also complicated our institutions like our malignant education system.
Why don’t you get it? We are under occupation
Is anyone else noticing how many people are getting into trouble — rightly or wrongly — because THEY COULD NOT RESIST YAMMERING ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Really. Stop it. Just stop it. And teach your kids and grandkids. Unless someone is publishing a thoughtful commentary about something, in which case it becomes necessary to stand on free speech principles, just stop it.
Whether it was “Jan. 6” or a schoolkid’s picture of a gun or something like this (the examples are innumerable), just stop it. This obsession and addiction with yakking on social media as if the individual has anything at all to say that merits announcing it to the world is itszelf a sign of cosial sickness. (Your plate of food? Really? Your rather homely picture of yourself to garner multiple lies about how “beautiful”? Really?) This is a good part of why this country is in trouble.
Miss the edit button. Social, not cosial.
HOLY BREITBART BATMAN! Fur’s writing for American Thinker (I now see you have been for a while but this is the first time I’ve seen it.)! Oh hellz yeah and BOOM!
It would appear the ruling, such as it is, is more nuanced than the impression I was left with when I initially only read of it here.

Freedom of speech prevails, jackas school just got schooled. If her parents support her actions & choice of grammar so be it. Foul mouthed kids you betcha, all over America. Just following examples set by dirty mouthed leaders, parents, peers & lack of discipline which has fallen to the wayside.
What about all the teachers and district staffers who post their “disruptive” abuse on social media?
Girl wuz jus rappin’
This has been going on for years.
My boys and their friends made a “movie” with a camcorder one of them got for Christmas.
They had guns and blood, (I helped them make it more realistic and thicker with corn syrup) and fake vodka.
The short little principal of the middle school got a hold of the dvd and called the cops and me into the office.
I basically, towering over him at my full 5 ft 4in, told him to mind his own business and what goes on at my house is none of his business. No court needed.
If I were that girl’s mother in the article, I would have told her to suck it up and try harder next time. Life isn’t fair. Although she should not have been suspended from school. That was wrong.
The amount of money those parents must have spent on lawyers is probably out of this world and only teaches that kid that she is deserving of anything she wants. Makes me think of the purple haired jerk Megan Rapinoe carrying on about deserving a trophy.
Good Work, BFH!
Parents start or allow this to enter into the court system?
Once you give a bone to the dogs at the ACLU they ain’t gonna let go of it.
Who knows what regrets from “thoughtless” reaction when you start something you’re incapable of stopping.
Oh look, it’s the F-You Cheerleader!
I’m more troubled by the SCOTUS taking up a case for a cheerleader, and not for hearing arguments from various states after the last election (because of no standing).
Tina from the Bronx also has a foul mouth and is running agains’t AOC. Should her speech be silenced? I guess she should just suck it up and let AOC do as she pleases.
BTW hypocrites THIS is a social media site.

I think BFH should be a “by line” under the title. But I read it and agree anyway. Good , speaking as a member of a family of disruptive pro “Operation WetBack’ kids in Ike’s years.
We were told we were “disruptive”; Little sis kicked out for 3 days. 4 years later I came home from College to hear her Valedictorian speech. She is smart! I was close; but no cigar.
in ’59 teacher asked my Dad why his kids were “trouble makers”. Dad forcefully, quietly, said, “They are Americans!”. The implication, which teacher got, was Ike was protecting Americans with WetBack. I was such. I earned $to pay for future college “working the fields”. Al men in my Clan (til my son) are Dem. I was Y D President when I came home for Sis’ speech! Dad and I were “Ronny Dems” but Ds! Ike was putting Americans first. Which IMHO is right!
Yes I did work GWB said “Americans won’t do!”! I have shed more blood for America than four (4) generations of Buishs combined! Got to h. Bush!
SCHOOLS HAVE BEEN LIBERAL FOR AT LEAST 79 YEARS!
The kid won in the Supreme court, then there was a bunch of rutabaga rutabaga rutabaga uttered.
I saw that… Nice Post for AT BFH. Shame we cant comment on it there…
*sigh*

Understand, when you enroll your child in a school, you surrender your rights to that child. The school owns them. You are no longer part of the equation.

Holy shith…
The supreme court is a bit too comfortable allowing the proverbial camels nose under the tent. I wonder how the left will take this ruling in suppressing free speech now?
