“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a gun.” – IOTW Report

“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a gun.”

Great post by Liberty’s Torch

Here’s a snippet to get you started:

There are actual human beings, possessors of licenses to drive and the acknowledged “right” to vote, making statements such as the following:

“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a gun.”

Not only are these…persons not being locked up to protect them from their own idiocy; they’re being listened to – by substantial numbers of Americans! – as if they’d said something with actual moorings in reality. Get that? Large numbers of people actually believe they have “a right to be safe.”

How on Earth did this state of affairs come about? Can anyone who’s ever had to slice a vegetable or cross a busy street sincerely think that “safety” is a real attribute that a living human being can possess? Is it possible that so great a fraction of the populace was so smotheringly over-mothered?

Incredible as it may seem, the answer is yes:

  • They exist.
  • There are a lot of them.
  • They really, truly believe in “safety.”
  • And they’ll have it, by God, over our dead bodies.

  1. I really don’t get these people. Our country was born from the barrel of a gun. America is a gun culture. If you don’t feel safe, fing move to France will ya. But NOBODIES taking my gun.

  2. They never will get our unalienable rights which means that as soon as they claim a right that interferes with mine then their claim is moot. That’s why the bill of rights was written into the constitution. They never will figure it out and like Rush continually says, “You can’t fix stupid.”

  3. Of course complete safety can never be guaranteed, but there’re some steps you can take to increase your safety.

    1) Stop being an idiot.
    2) Buy a gun.
    3) Get training in the use of your gun.
    4) Stay away from gun free zones.
    5) Stop voting for Democrats.

  4. “My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a gun.”
“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a pipe bomb.”
“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a knife.”
“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a scimitar.”
“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a bow & arrow.”
“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a spear.”
“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a motor vehicle.”
“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a club.”
“My right to be safe outweighs your right to have a rock.”

    ….reductio ad absurdum

  5. Maybe if all people that felt that way could wear a yellow flag to let everyone know not to defend them in a deadly situation. I would be OK with that I think ,seems logical enough.

  6. A leftist prog lacks the ability to make anyone safe. They don’t believe that you have to pull your own weight in this world, so they live in another world that doesn’t even exist. They are all mentally ill. They should be bitching to the big pharmaceutical companies about the failure of their psyche drugs to cure their paranoia.

  7. Just thumbed through the Bill of Rights … and damn … I don’t see any “right” to be “safe.”

I DO see a “right” to “keep and bear” arms – or “guns” if you like.

  8. If this country gets into a civil war, these idiots who spout this moronic nonsense will sure as shoot be seeking a gun owner for protection, just you wait and see. They will find, to their horror, that the blacks and muzlims will try to kill them, and the facist government they supported will just not care.
