DailySurge: Arizona Democrat State Senator Carlyle Begay announced Monday that he is leaving the Democrat Party and becoming a Republican.
“The Republican Party better reflects the values of self-determination and self-empowerment that he holds and wants to emphasize to his district,” Begay told the Arizona Republican.
Begay, who was elected as a Democrat to represent Arizona’s Legislative District 7 in 2013 and reelected in 2014, is a Navajo Indian and represents an area of Arizona which encompasses the Navajo and Hopi reservations. read more

It was originally Ben-Gay when a member of one of the lost tribes of Israel (actually a cousin of the transsexual Ben-Her) immigrated to the U.S. in the 1800s and joined an Indian tribe.
