NBC apologizes to the Korean people for its insulting comments

AMERICAN THINKER: NBC has committed a gaffe of epic proportion, and in the process a certifiable member of the global elite has revealed the delusions common among his cohort.

Way to go, Trump-haters! NBC’s coverage of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics has managed to insult the entire Korean nation – North and South – by stepping on their bitterest sensitivity, and has made a humiliating public apology “to the Korean people.” But as of this publication, the apology has been limited to words read on only one of the Network’s cable properties.

The Koreans are paying attention, and so should you.

Jun Ming Ho of the Korea Times reports the gaffe:

During the live broadcast of Friday’s opening ceremony, Joshua Cooper Ramo, a commentator for The U.S. broadcaster’s coverage of the Olympics, said, “Now representing Japan, a country which occupied Korea from 1910 to 1945. But every Korean will tell you that Japan is a cultural and technological and economic example that has been so important to their own transformation.”Chris Chase of MSN:

NBC issued an apology a few hours later. In a statement read live on NBCSN early Saturday morning, anchor Carolyn Manno said:

“During our coverage of the Parade of Nations on Friday we said it was notable that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made the trip to Korea for the Olympics, “representing Japan, a country which occupied Korea from 1910 to 1945 but every Korean will tell you that Japan is a cultural, technological and economic example that has been so important to their own transformation.” We understand the Korean people were insulted by these comments and we apologize.”

Mr. Ramo managed to rip the Olympic spirit scab off the deepest wound on the soul of the Korean people. READ MORE

  1. As Ramo later reported, “And here we have Israel, a new addition the winter Olympics, but not surprising since they owe so much of their tenacity and fortitude to Germany – a nation that frequently dominates…”

WTF? Why do libtards not even try to understand the history they rewrite?

  2. Katie Couric told the made the comment during the opening ceremonies that the Dutch are so great at speed skating because the canals freeze over and skating a major form of transportation for them. LOL!!!

  3. The Korean/Japanese relationship is a lot like the Irish/English relationship. It’s no wonder why people are clueless when History is no longer taught in school. Well, except for the re-imagined history (like the patriots in the American Revolution were the bad guys and the British loyalists were the good guys).

I just hope that the Koreans don’t think all of Americans are as clueless at this guy.

  4. When the entire MSM tells exactly the same story, using 95% the same words, exactly the same spin, I hope it’s obvious to the Koreans that America’s MSM is told what to say and how to say it. Can’t help thinking they’re all told by one person what and how they’re all supposed to “report.” We sure as hell know they no longer get their marching orders from the White House. DNC maybe?

  5. Do they still give those “talks” before someone representing US interests goes into a foreign country?
You know, don’t stick your chopsticks into the rice so they stand up like joss sticks, don’t heckle the performers in Hawaii, hey, if you have never been, it’s pretty damn foreign.
Anybody with even a casual understanding of WW II, Korean and Japanese history would know to not compare the two in any way.
I’m glad a late night TV host is so intelligent cause the reporters are ‘tards.

  6. I’m surprised they didn’t say, the the female Korean athletes would be “comforting” the losing Japanese athletes later tonite… 😮

Matt Lauer could show ’em how. 😳

  7. The Korean Government ought to consider cutting of the NBC feed into the country for a month or two until they get a proper apology. Hell, Trump ought to jump in as well asking whether NBC Couric needs a tutor in Dutch History or Ramo needs a refresher on the Holocaust. Geezuz and they all laughed when Megeyn Kelly was kept at home.

  8. An old Korean Curse (still in use in the early 80’s)

Was “Your Mother doesn’t have any hair on her Vagina”

(something like eeby sheeby pet pogida)

It basically meant You were a Japanese Soldier’s bastard Son,

As the Japs used to shave their rape victims with a Bayonet.
