NBC Universal chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships Linda Yaccarino is in discussions to serve as Twitter’s CEO, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed people. The New York Times, citing two unnamed people, has reported that Elon Musk is in discussions to hire the woman for the role.
Elon Musk announced on Thursday that he has hired someone to serve as CEO of the social media platform and that she will begin the job in around six weeks, though he did not divulge the woman’s identity.
“Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops,” Musk tweeted. “The commitment to open source transparency and accepting a wide range of viewpoints remains unchanged,” Musk also tweeted on Thursday. read more

I read a column about this woman where, yes, she follows the Libs of Tik Tok, but also conservative commentators. She’s a marketing person, so she needs to know all angles. Let’s give her a chance. I don’t think Musk will tolerate wokeism. She just might build X into the powerhouse Musk anticipates. He can always fire her.

Guess I won’t be joining Twitter after all…
The key is that the shareholders still control content through the board and through their voting.
And by shareholders, of course, I mean Musk.
I don’t expect any controls over content beyond the current status. If she is good on the marketing side, then all is good.
You can now subscribe to Elon’s feed for $4 per month. He has 160 million followers, if 10% subscribed… the $44B he paid may very likely turn out to be a profitable investment! And he is operating on something like 10% of the staff, and Twitter was break-even with all of those employees.
Note: I’m not paying anything to Twitter. Social media just isn’t worth it to me, at least unless I have a business reason to pay for something.

I have never subscribed to twitter, but i’m likely to do so because of Tucker – depending on the fee of course, as there will be one.
Musk is still sitting on the fence, so he seems to be going back and forth politically. Unlike others that appear to be moderate, I do believe Musk is honest about his decisions. Call me what you will, but he is unique in the rich and powerful arena, just as Trump is. They are quite different from each other as well.
We are plagued with interesting times.
Twitter is going to go the route Sirius Radio did with Howard Stern. Sirius Radio paid Stern $100 million for 5 years. 33,000 subscribers turned into millions of subscribers.
Looks like Elon is going to do the same with Tucker Carlson for Twitter.
