Nearly Half The Troops Deployed To Afghanistan and Iraq Are Coming Home

cns news

The U.S. military will in the coming weeks almost halve the number of troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, the top U.S. commander in the region, Marine Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, confirmed on Wednesday.

During the month of September, the commander of U.S. Central Command said during a visit to Iraq, troops numbers in Iraq will be reduced from about 5,200 to 3,000 – a reduction of around 42.3 percent.

Later on Wednesday, McKenzie told the Voice of America that the number of troops in Afghanistan would drop from the current 8,600 to around 4,500, by early November. That constitutes a reduction of some 47.6 percent. More

  1. The Arabs could send us 1000 Barrels week for 100 years…
It would not even start to compensate for what we lost in the Muddled East,
Thanks G,W, QuackenBush. That was a $ 10 Trillion dollar mistake.
What a Ducking Fummy! 100% of your pension should be used to pay that back.

  2. I am glad the troops are coming home. If we had a specific goal and were willing to let them do what they do best (break things and kill people), I would keep them there. Since we don’t have that, I enjoy the President keeping his promise.

  3. @Antidote – I cannot agree with you. I would love the result, but the constitution limits what can be done, and using the military on civilians, regardless of the lawlessness those people are showing is one of those.
I want the BLM / Antifa idiocy to end, but using the military on our own soil is a slippery slope. Use the various law enforcement organizations.
Even if the people who control the LEOs are corrupt, the possibility of the left using the military in the future to take on those of us on the right is a terrible thing to consider

  4. If Trump continues to scale back our troops in foreign lands, reduce our involvement in being the global police for free, I.E., reducing payments to our defense contractors and private security contaractors and logistic providers, he’s begging to get offed.

These folks are used to the money and they won’t have some upstart loudmouth from NY pinching the flow to the point it hurts.

War is big money. It’s far too profitable to abandon.

  5. THIS is what we voted for, an ending to these endless moslem tribal fucking wars.

So, to address the comments of the troops coming home?

First, I welcome their safe return!

Now, what I would imagine is that these returning vets will due a tour or two in the National Gaurd upon returning.

HOPEFULLY, if this is the case???

THEY will be ripe and ready to be sent into the cities, urban confrontation, like they did in the aforementioned shitholes overseas…

  6. @Lowell – is it not common practice?? For returning vets, WHATEVER the conflict, to be in society but yet still in service or active duty in the NG? IT helps for additional income as well.

    Does that help I hope?

Again, IF this is the case? WE are in good shape.

  7. I think that, had we not been saddled by GWB and obama ROE, our military assets could have accomplished the claimed purpose for sending them there in the first place in much less time. And, should the nasties raise their heads again, I suspect that new ROE as suggested by RAF would allow various of our assets to cut off their heads and push their remains back underground rather quickly. Of course PDJT would have to completely ignore the various government grifters (and protect himself from them) and their friends in the press.
