But the cold got them.
Postal Service suspends delivery Wednesday due to cold.
Due to the severe winter weather conditions, the U.S. Postal Service has announced postal delivery Wednesday will be suspended in Minnesota, Iowa, western Wisconsin and western Illinois.
Temperatures in the Twin Cities were expected to drop to near -30 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday and a wind chill warning was in effect.
A release from the USPS said retail operations at local offices will be available, but may be limited.
There will be no collection mail pickup from businesses or collection boxes. There will also be no residential or commercial package pickup services.
They don’t make enough money to buy Red Wings and gloves???
Damnit!…now I won’t get my mailbox stuffed with advertising fliers today.

What would John Kasich’s father do.
In Tallahassee, which didn’t even get full impact of Michael (lots of downed trees because of their canopy roads tree hugging mentality and mismanagement by former mayor who now has a gig with CNN), we had a week or so of little or no mail service. There were no announcements – just days with no deliveries.
Word as of last night is that the UPS drivers had to work. Insanity. Please pray for all who have to be out in this horrible cold.
I wonder if the UPS drivers will be forced to close their sliding drivers door due to the extreme cold. And I’d betcha that none of them are wearing shorts right now. When it got this cold and we had to deliver flowers we lost a lot of flowers to being frozen. I had a day last Winter over in Montana when it was between 20-25 degrees below zero between Plains, Mt. and Flathead Lake and it never got above 5 degrees up in the Kalispell area that day. The Sun was out though and it was a beautiful blue sky day but it was colder than hell.
In Baltimore on a 6 day normal
delivery week we are lucky to
actually receive our mail 4 out of
the 6. About 10% of our packages
are lost/stolen/delivered to wrong
address. This started about 5 years
ago when the last of the white mailmen disappeared.
I was watching a little news last night, multi-vehicle accidents and people at risk of dying from exposure. And my thought was WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING OUTSIDE??? Dangerous for everyone – just stay in for the next 3 days.
Sissies! I saw a young woman yesterday (0 degrees) and she was wearing shorts! Get her and her fellow sorority members to deliver the mail. She would probably do it on a bicycle if the price was right!
Have the government buy all the mail carriers CANADA GOOSE winter coasts at $600 dollars a pop. They can afford it… stamps just went up to .55 cents. Good times!
What do today’s mail carriers want?

A USPS package has been, in route to the next destination, for the past 6 days. It just got cold out within the past 8 hours.
North Georgia, including the City of Atlanta, declared a winter weather emergency Monday night, and shut down everything in anticipation of snow and ice on Tuesday.. By noon Tuesday, it was sunny and dry after a cold rain. No ice, no snow anywhere. Forty years ago, we’d have gone about our business on a day like yesterday, blissfully unaware that we’d supposedly dodged a bullet. Then came the mediarologists and their weather radar
Now, everything just shuts down because of scary weather radar pictures on TV, yet thousands of people still get stranded, even though the mediarologists start screaming a week in advance. Maybe it’s because the mediarologists start screaming a week in advance. Hell, they closed schools here last year because the temperature got below 20. What I can’t understand is why this fear of winter is so strong in metro Atlanta now, when most of the population is northern transplants.
Bunch of chickenshit snowflakes.
-25 this morning, before the wind, in SE WI.
At least I won’t have to walk out to the mailbox.
I spent 5 arctic winters working out in this cold. Our temp cut-off was -40/-100. (ambient/wind chill).
Working on high pressure natural gas wells with perforating guns that contained 12 lbs of C4 explosive, capped and armed.
Interesting times…
In Cincinnati, we’ve got no mail, no trash pickup, no school . . . but Amazon just delivered a package to us.
Pussies.
I wish I had seen this before I walked out to the mailbox.
Another shibboleth shattered … or another shattered shibboleth … which is it?
Just got too cold …
