Breitbart: New Jersey residents could soon see their hard-earned dollars go down the drain if Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy decides to sign recently passed legislation from New Jersey’s legislature allowing for a “rain tax.”
The legislation, Senate Bill S-1073, which the New Jersey Assembly and Senate approved, would allow local governments to create water utilities that would give them the power to tax homeowners and business owners with large paved surfaces.
When it rains, the rainwater mixes with pollutants and seeps into municipal sewage systems. The money collected would replace or repair sewage pipes or create “green infrastructure,” such as rain gardens that would collect polluted water. more
We are so fucked…
I got a big back yard that absorbs lots of water. Is New Jersey going to give me a tax rebate? Don’t think so.
This gives the expression “saving for a rainy day” a whole new meaning.
A great way to eliminate all those shovel ready jobs. Salt the whole state and let it rot.
The problem is not enough tax money coming in, but how is wasted on just BS items. We need new taxes for road construction and maintenance. Well what happened to all the road use taxes built into price of gas and diesel. In New York state we have toll booth collectors receiving over $100,000.00 per year. Pretty good for making change all day. The cities collect huge amounts of property taxes each year, where is that money going? The problem is not too little taxes, but out of control spending.
@bike mike – here in CA our taxes on gasoline went up, again, because our roads are in poor condition.
Of course they aren’t going to spend the increased revenue on the roads, but it gives them an excuse to raise the taxes.
This fcuked up idea failed in Maryland.
Yet 2.1 billion is pissed away on services for illegal aliens in NJ.
This. Must. Stop.
Gotta have some way to pay for the underfunded pension plans that you negotiated with the communists (Unions).
“…Showered with ‘Rain Tax’…”
They’re not going to get showered- they’re about to get hosed
again
He’s pissin’ down their backs…
As Sylvia wrote – the stupid Joisey-ans are taking Maryland’s failed policies and trying to make them work.
Classic socialism – take something that’s dead, prop it up, toss some stinkum on it to hide the smell of putrescence, cover the face with colorful wax, and try to convince the public it’s new and viable.
Seein as they got Booger and Menendez, I guess they’ll buy anything.
izlamo delenda est …
A permeable concrete has been developed that allows water to soak right through it to satisfy this concern.
Amazing to watch water being sprayed on it.
Now I wonder if there are any political connections to a local concrete company that ties into this law.
Wouldn’t be the first time.
That said, how evil to screw with people’s water and land. It’s like they took history classes to learn how to be iron-fisted dictators with better P.R.

Suggest any entrepreneurs in Jersey to consider starting up a concrete abatement company. Gonna be a lot of customers soon.
Dadof4- I can’t stop laughing at the guy who couldn’t say “permeable”.
Anyway, those are cool videos! Las Vegas needs it because of all the flash-flooding.
