It doesn’t make any Dinero.

The New York Times on Tuesday announced the closure of its Spanish-language platform, NYT en Español.

“As of today, we’ve discontinued NYT en Español as a separate, standalone operation. Since it launched in 2016, the site published around 10 high-quality original [stories] and translated New York Times stories…in Spanish,” a New York Times spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill.

“We launched NYT en Español as part of an experiment to reach and engage more international readers by extending our coverage to different languages,” the statement continued.

“While the Español site did attract a new audience for our journalism and consistently produced coverage we are very proud of, it did not prove financially successful. Our strategy is now focused on our subscription-driven core news report for a global audience.” read more

  1. No one anywhere ever expected it to make money. Remember the target audience cleans Trump’s toilets and picks strawberries in the shadows while avoiding taxes for a living.

  2. I think the Spanish speaking countries don’t give a rip what the Communists in NYC have to say. Communism is something everybody who has tired it want to escape.

  3. What a racist way for the New York Slimes to celebrate Mexican Independence Day!
Next, they will spit on the Mexican flag!

  4. …They have a bit of a problem with other favored languages, too, seeing as how Somalis tend to be illiterate in ANY language and Iranians read only the Koran…

That’s about three stories a year. More like the NYT en Siesta. I was told these people were doing the work Americans wouldn’t do.

  6. I guess Univision is now the chief propagandist of the Spanish-speaking population. I’m surprised La Raza or George Soros didn’t bail them out.
