NJ Democrat Congressman In Coma Weeks After Heart Attack

Trending Politics:
Rep. Donald M. Payne Jr. (D-NJ), has reportedly been unconscious and on a ventilator in the intensive care unit of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center since suffering a heart attack on April 6.

The six-term congressman from Essex County, who is 65, has not regained consciousness, and his condition appears to be more severe than initially reported, according to the New Jersey Globe.

A statement from Payne’s office on April 9 described the incident as a “cardiac episode” and suggested he was recovering, but this seems to have been an optimistic assessment. His prognosis remains uncertain, and it is unclear when he might return to Washington. more

  1. There’s no grace in just praying for friends and family.
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

  2. Tim FJB: you are correct.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and the on good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even tax collectors do the same? And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect “ (Matt. 5:43-48).

But I still have trouble praying for some people.

It ain’t supposed to be easy.
Sometimes I feel the hypocrite for doing it … but I hope that someday I can do it with complete sincerity.

  4. This might be viewed as a lesson between democrats and republicans. Democrats will never abandon their party until death. Republicans will abandon their party when it does the most harm.

Tony R, “But I still have trouble praying for some people.”

Absolutely! I know what you both mean. These people make it their jobs to hurt us. They actually get pleasure out of the destruction of our hopes and dreams, and even our lives.

That does not mean that we are free to ignore God’s commandments. For what he has done for us, we owe God our entire being. If part of that hurts, then so be it. He gives me more than I deserve and if I can please him by asking for a blessing on another person, even one who would gladly kill me, then I see that as becoming more like Christ, which is why we are here until God brings us home. That’s our job.

Still, it galls me as a fallen human to have to show grace to them. All I can say is that trusting God is the only way I can do it.
