Novel by Saddam Hussein to be published in English

newsnet5: Is Saddam Hussein about to be America’s next best-selling author?

A novel written by the deceased Iraqi dictator before his capture in 2003 will be translated and published into English this year, for the first time ever. According to The Guardian, an independent British publisher is printing the manuscript.

Described by the publisher as “a mix between ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘House of Cards’,” the novel was previously translated and published in Japanese and Turkish. The infamous book has been published under multiple titles including “Begone Devils” and “Get Out You Damned.” Its English title has not yet been revealed.

  1. Ornery1, that assumes Saddam actually wrote his book.

And ladies, this book will likely not be the next Fifty Shades. Probably a total sausage party. Although there may be Jewish vampires. Just don’t get your hopes up.

  2. The search for a good English title for this book reminded me of the following fact:

Hitler’s original title for his literary masterpiece was “Four and a Half Years of Struggle against Lies, Stupidity, and Cowardice.” His publisher knew better, and convinced him to shorten it to “Mein Kampf” (in English “My Struggle”, or “My Battle”). The book was a huge success. I’ve often wondered how much responsibility that publisher bore for Hitler’s subsequent rise to power.
