Number of transgender surgeries performed each year has TRIPLED across US in past three years.
Sex-change surgeries carried out across US annually have nearly tripled in recent years, a study suggests.
The number of gender-affirming operations nearly tripled from 2016 to 2019 before dropping slightly in 2020, according to research published Wednesday.
The increase likely reflects expanded insurance coverage for transgender care after the Obama administration and some states actively discouraged discrimination based on gender identity, lead author Dr Jason Wright of Columbia University said. The dip in 2020 can be attributed to the pandemic.
About 48,000 patients underwent such surgeries during the five years studied, with about 13,000 procedures done in 2019, the peak year, and 12,800 in 2020.
A little more than half the patients were ages 19 to 30. Surgeries in patients 18 and younger were rare: fewer than 1,200 in the highest volume year. But transgender surgeries are an understudied area due to the fact they have only recently become more widely available.
In the last couple of years, many states have taken steps to restrict or ban transgender care for people under age 18, adding to waiting lists of patients seeking care in states that have declared themselves refuges for transgender people

I just saw a picture (before and after) of a physically beautiful young (19 or so) woman with a really fantastic smile who (after) stood before the camera with her “top surgery” exposed but still sporting the bandages. Her hair was shorn so short she looked like an Auschwitz inmate. It makes one weep for the complete absence of real love surrounding this person. “Affirming Care” is an evil beyond evil.
In 10 years or less, there will be an enormous population of young adults no longer able or willing to afford the monthly hormone costs to keep them in their so-called “identity”. Beyond that, of course, is that their current mental illnesses will not have been properly dealt with.
