NY: Chinese Coronavirus hospitalizations, deaths drop to new lows once again

NEW YORK (WABC) — The number of hospitalizations and deaths due to COVID-19 in New York State hit new lows once again Saturday.

Hospitals reported 1,657 patients being treated for the virus while 23 new deaths were reported to the state.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the state’s transmission rate of 0.78 remained the lowest in the nation.

Cuomo also announced that New York would extend open enrollment in the health exchange for an additional 30 days, through July 15.

Low-risk youth sports for regions in Phase 3 reopening can begin July 6. Those sports include baseball, softball, gymnastics, field hockey, cross country and crew. Two spectators per child will be allowed at each event. more

  1. And of course, Cuomo’s “enlightened” crisis management was totally responsible for this achievement! [sarcasm off]
(“And Trump is responsible for all those nursing home deaths in NYS”–Fredo Cuomo)

  2. I see a lot of people echoing this statement on Facebook:
“The end of stay-at-home orders doesn’t mean the pandemic is over. It means they currently have room for you in the ICU.”

To which I want to respond “Exactly! That is WHY we can open up! The curve has been flattened!”

  3. Then: The U.S. is the greatest nation the world has ever known.
Now: The U.S. w/ChinaVirus is the greatest nation the world has ever known.

Protect the vulnerable and deal with it. It’s here and not going away.

You don’t hear people screeching about the 108th wave of the seasonal flu (credit to Blue Collar Logic for that).

  4. I am waiting for the reports of the resurgence. You know it will be a big story if it happens.
I have some friends in China, and they are starting to report (take the Chinese media with a grain of salt) that they are starting to see a second wave, especially in retail centers.
