NYTimes Editorial Board Goes Full Progressive and Begs Anthony Kennedy Not To Retire

Newsbusters-

Remember all those times during the Barack Obama presidency when the New York Timesbegged Justice Anthony Kennedy to not retire from the Supreme Court? No? Well, that’s probably because it never happened. However, now that Donald Trump is president, the Times is begging Kennedy, considered to be a swing vote, to remain on the High Court bench.

It’s not difficult to envision a parallel universe in which Hillary Clinton won the 2016 election and the Timeseditorial board on April 28, 2018 of that universe asked Anthony Kennedy to retire to make way for new (liberal) blood.

They smell blood — if they can install another rock-ribbed conservative like Neil Gorsuch, the court will have a locked-in right-wing majority for the rest of most of our lifetimes. They won’t even have to steal a seat to do it.

And from the makeup of the current court it isn’t hard to imagine it going 6-3 or even 7-2. The stuff of New York Times nightmares.

  1. The act of appointing another conservative to the supreme court will be one of the most important things that DJT could possibly do in his tenure. Expect the dems to fight tooth and nail even if president Trump nominated Jesus Christ.

  2. Just for laughs: Unseal Obama’s records, establish the illegitimacy of his presidency and replace the two justices he appointed. Then enjoy the Times editorials as their heads explode collectively.

  3. I never thought I’d agree with the New York Times editorial board. Of course, I think we still disagree on the definition of “yearning for a swing vote”.

  4. Imagine if a Ginsburg or Kennedy died in a questionable fashion like Scalia.
The FBI would still be investigating who killed the liberal/swing vote justice.

  5. FTA:
“Their April 28 editorial page beseechments for Kennedy to forego retirement seems to have the tone of the great James Brown singing Please, Please, Please! at the 1964 Teenage Awards Music International Show in Santa Monica, CA which many believe to have been the greatest rock performance of all time.”

So I look up the performance on YouTube.
    Pretty cool.

    “Please, please, please, please,
    Please, please, please, please,
    Please, please,
    Darlin’ please
    Oh oh
Oh yeah, I love you so.”

Pretty funny, when you link it with the NYT pleading of Kennedy “Please don’t leave me.”

  6. It’s way past time for some constraint to be brought on these judges. I’d love to see review boards to insure there is strict adherence to the constitution but then that’s what these jerks are supposed to be doing.

  7. The way things usually work out, the bad guys get their wish. Then when we think there is no hope, one of the worst liberals leaves. Hey, you commies at the NYTs; be careful what you wish for. Also, think about the laws of unintended consequences. Then FOAD you treasonous commie bastards.
