  1. From the Halls of Montezuma
    To the shores of Tripoli;
    We fight our countrys battles
    In the air, on land, and sea;
    First to fight for right and freedom
    And to keep our honor clean;
    We are proud to claim the title
    Of United States Marine
    Our flag’s unfurled to every breeze
    From dawn to setting sun;
    We have fought in every clime and place
    Where we could take a gun;
    In the snow of far-off Northern lands
    And in sunny tropic scenes,
    You will find us always on the job
    The United States Marines.
    Here’s health to you and to our Corps
    Which we are proud to serve;
    In many a strife we’ve fought for life
    And never lost our nerve.
    If the Army and the Navy
    Ever look on Heaven’s scenes,
    They will find the streets are guarded
    By United States Marines.

    Again in 1941, we sailed a north’ard course
    and found beneath the midnight sun, the Viking and the Norse.
    The Iceland girls were slim and fair, and fair the Iceland scenes,
    and the Army found in landing there, the United States Marines.

    So when we reach the ‘Isle of Japan’
    with our caps at a jaunty tilt,
    we’ll enter the city of Tokyo
    on the roads the Seabees built.

    In all our years of fighting,
    in some battles that were rough.
    From the rigs of the Continental ships,
    to the rigs in the Persian Gulf.
    But we’ve taught the world respect for,
    and exactly what it means.
    The eagle, globe, and anchor of,
    the United States Marine.

    OOHRAH!!!!!

  2. Menderman, that was the first song I have a memory of singing.
    My Marine Corps father, God bless him, fought in WW2 and Korea in the Chosin Reservoir battle. A great poem and song for the Marines.

  3. All Too Much:

    I went to see a Motown group this past Friday at the local pub, and a couple of barley legal Marines wondered in and sat next to me. They drank for free the rest of the night. I love and admire our warriors, but I know many newbies live on way less than what welfare pays, so I often cover their tab. They love it, and it greatly reduces the chances a punk is gonna push me around. I’m happy and safe, their happy as all git out and I am only out 20 bucks! What a wonderful world!

  4. I could have sworn that I learned this in the 8th grade U.S. History and Constitutional class. But then, I’m dating myself. Not to mention why Jefferson had a Koran. Jefferson was one to study and TO KNOW YOUR ENEMY!

  5. Whenever I meet a Marine, I have this urge to jump up on a chair and announce, “Attention! There is a REAL MAN in the room, not some little faggot-assed pussy pretender……”

    It’s genetic. I get it from my father, USMC Sargeant Aurel E. Varga (1919-1994), an alumnus of The Battle of Midway Island. RIP, Dad.
