OH HELL NO!! Michael Peterson Released From Jail For Good!!!!

Wealthy novelist walks free after being convicted in his wife’s manslaughter at a retrial after spending eight years behind bars for her murder 

He gets off after time served by being able to take a plea bargain for manslaughter while still pleading innocence.

WTH???

If anyone is not acquainted with this story I strongly recommend watching the documentary about the trial. It’s called The Staircase.

How guilty is this guy of killing his wife? The documentary was pro-innocence and you still come away convinced the guy did it.

Here’s a Forensic Files episode about the case. (Not as informative or complete, but a good primer.)

I haven’t seen it in a long time but here are some basic facts.

-Michael Peterson said he and his wife, Kathleen, were drinking by the pool when she decided to go into the house. He remained outside, with shorts on, on a very cool Durham, North Carolina night.

-When he finally entered the house, 2 A.M., he found his wife dying at the foot of the stairs covered in blood.

-He called 911 and said she fell down the stairs (how would he know this?)

-Paramedics said the blood was not fresh.

-Autopsy revealed she had contusions straight on top of the head, consistent with blows from a weapon. Tops of heads are rarely, if ever, damaged with falls down stairs.

-Blood spatter indicated the wife was struck while standing.

-Peterson was in massive financial trouble.

-Peterson was hiding from his wife that he was bisexual.

-He arranged gay sex with a guy named Brad, but Brad didn’t show up.

-The wife’s footprints were found in the blood, indicating she didn’t die in the fall.

-The wife was dying in various positions. Standing, laying face down, laying face up.

-Evidence of a clean-up attempt of the wall was found.

-One stair was wiped completely clean.

-A sneaker print on the back of his wife’s pants, consistent with his sneakers, were found.

-Fresh blood was sprayed over old blood, indicating she got up from the initial attack some time after it occurred, walked, and was hit again.

-Blood spatter was found inside the legs of the shorts of Michael Peterson.

-A fireplace blower/poker (brass, the size of a pool cue, and suspected to be the murder weapon) was missing from the house, only to be found months after in a place that was already searched by police, cleaned of any fingerprints.

-Gay porn was deleted from Peterson’s computer the day before his wife’s death with a program called quick clean, and the day after.

-While living in Germany Michael Peterson’e first wife died from a fall down the stairs.

Besides all this evidence, the guy is an insufferable dickbag, making Dick Cavett seem natural and unaffected in speech and cadence. He’s simply unlikeable.

I am as sure of his guilt as I am sure that I’m not guilty of Kathleen Peterson’s murder.
