Extreme cold weather snap contributes to 3 electricity records in Alberta, Canada.
With the windchill plunging into the -40 C range and with limited daylight hours, Alberta set three records in a row for electricity consumption.
The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) said the province used a record hourly average amount of electricity between 5 and 6 p.m. on Dec. 8, reaching 11,442 megawatts (MW).

Pfft….try working on an oil rig in Zama Lake, Alberta when it’s -57c…and the cold snap lasts for more than 3 weeks. I’ll tell you what though… I’ll take that any day over -25c in the Ottawa region… friggin humidity cuts through you no matter how much clothing you got on. Lord, I miss Alberta!
