The Oklahoman
State officials could have a new weapon in their arsenal as they try to lure gun and ammunition manufacturers to Oklahoma.
Murray State College leaders say the school’s gunsmithing program could become a huge economic development driver thanks to a $10 million legislative investment that will allow the college to offer the nation’s first bachelor’s degree in gunsmithing. More
It would take manufacturing to make the degree worthwhile. My son has a friends who became a gunsmith and he never made much money at it.
Used to have one in CO. Don’t know if it’s still there.
There should be gunsmithing in every shop class in every High School in America.
Yavapai College in Prescott AZ (home to a Ruger factory) offers AS degrees in gunsmithing and advanced gunsmithing.
Why did they feel the need to mention OKs ranking for gun deaths?
Stupid question I know…. we already know the answer.
They’re wanting to attract gun manufactures by loading up their degree with training on advanced tools and machines. There are a few blue states probably all too happy to see those manufacturing jobs go to where they are wanted.
Some of the best precision rifle actions were made in Okla. My son and I were invited to see the Surgeon Rifle operation near Shawnee, Ok. about ten years ago. The company has since sold out and relocated to Texas.
AWESOME!
Now Publicly Disown Garth Brooks & we have a Party Going on.
Do they provide on=line courses?
What say you Uncle Brad?
No money to be made?
Limited number here (northwest of Shitcago about sixty miles) and busy to the point of you wait for any work. I luckily have retired smith who will do things for me and no muss or fuss with paperwork. No paper trail on any of my stuff before the tragic boating accident.
Also private outdoor range or a couple in WI where no one gets terribly nosy on what you’re shooting.
