Oliver Stone made millions from JFK – a film based upon a JFK assassination conspiracy theory that even conspiracy theorists knew was bullshit. Sometimes I think Stone is crazy; other times I think Stone just like yanking peoples’ chains. But in this case, I think Stone makes valid points.
There is little doubt that Russia has tried to hack various public and private organizations in the United States. We do the same thing, as does every other nation with the capacity to undertake hacking, and as do numerous individuals for reasons of their own. We spy on our enemies, and we spy on our friends. Much of this activity is concentrated in cyberspace because this is where much of the information is.
The Democrats lost the 2016 Presidential election, and they cannot bring themselves to admit that their candidate was a poor choice or that the voting public rejected their agenda. The recounts initiated by Jill Stein were embarrassing and only reinforced Trump’s victory, so the Democrats have to resort to a Russia/Putin straw man as an excuse. However, as Stone points out, this is a dangerous course of action which may lead to a return to cold war paranoia on all sides.
The credible information is that the DNC information was leaked by an insider – not hacked by Russia. The left willingly ignores this, as well as the fact that the leaked information was bona fide, because to admit to the facts would also require them to admit that their chosen candidate was duly rejected in November. But I believe that Trump is more level headed and more concerned about America than Hillary Clinton, and the more I listen to Democrats lie and whine, the more I believe America made the right choice last November.
A thoughtful, well written article which, coming from Oliver Stone, did surprise me. He has the same contempt for Donald Trump (he’s going to get us into a war with the Russians) as others in the MSM and Entertainment industries but at least in this article he does take the NYT, CNN and a few others to task for their biased, reader generating reporting and for pointing out that Trump is their target number one (something any conservative could have told him over a year ago). I’ll wait with anticipation for the clock to turn and Ollie is right again.
In the last paragraph I find the sentence, “I never thought I’d find myself praying for the level-headedness of a Donald Trump.”
I don’t know about you but this can be taken in one of two ways. Which is it? He’s praying for the level-headedness he sees in Trump? Or is he praying that Trump will show level-headedness?
WHY DO WE CARE WHO HACKED WHAT?? THE HACKING EXPOSED THE CORRUPT DNC FOR WHO THEY ARE AND HOW THEY THINK!!
THE ONLY LESSON I KNOW OF IS THAT WE ARE FAR BEHIND IN OUR CYBERSECURITY EFFORTS, AN INVALUABLE LESSON INDEED!!
