Omnibus Open Thread

The editors of The National Review have called what passed in the house “a disgrace.”

NRO-

During the Obama administration, we argued that the federal budgetary process had become an exercise in reckless liberal overreach. The federal government was abusing the budgetary process, we said, wasting money and expanding itself at the expense of civil society. The hope was that once the GOP gained power, it would act with procedural integrity, begin to try to return the government to its proper role, and deliver significant conservative victories on budgetary policy.

Instead, Republicans are poised to pass an omnibus bill that, with the exception of the defense spending, is an embarrassment and a disgrace.

snip!

If Trump doesn’t veto the bill they will feel vindicated. A 1.3 trillion dollar spending bill is, well, not so austere.

  1. McConnell & Ryan gave Pelousi & Schmuckles everything they wanted & got nothing … exactly what McConnell & Ryan wanted too.

the GOPe is deliberately setting itself up to lose the Senate and the House in November … bank on it! the GOPe is very comfortable being the minority
it also gets back at Trump … whom they loath as much as the rabid progtards do.
they are perfectly willing to sell out the country, as long as it serves their bottom line

I am long done w/ the republicans … this is the reason why so many former repubs have gone ‘independent’ & why repubs deliberately nominate people that can’t win elections …. just like Floyd the Barber in that special election in Pennsyltucky

  2. “This was done by their precious GOPe.”

That’s exactly my thoughts. Party leader ship gave the farm away. The National Review just LOVES Turtle Boy and Ryan. Trying to twist this around on Trump won’t fly. Even though I believe that to be Ryan and Turtle Boys intent.

  3. If this does not get vetoed, Trump loses 50% of my support! He can gain it back, but it will require results. I’ve had it. Shit needs to happen, I’m sick and tired of being a patient believer!

  4. My take is Ryan and McConnell are trying to throw the 2018 midterms. Don’t get fooled by the play.

They are Uniparty and it’s OK with them if the Dems win the House and Senate. They, and the Chinese, want Trump gone. Time to double are efforts and not let that happen.

I hope there is more dirt on these swamp rats selling America to the Chinese.

  5. Mortgages for the Masses, that is exactly why this has to be fought right here and right now! I know my blood pressure has been higher that I would like it today, and it’s because I’m pissed off as hell! In my insignificant opinion this budget is worth sticking our flag in the ground for! C’mon Trump we voted for you because you are a fighter! This is worth the fight!

  6. The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn’t work and then they get elected and prove it. P. J. O’Rourke

  7. Don’t you all know, you are sheep to be fleeced by BOTH POLITICAL PARTIES. Rah! Rah! Rah! Our team is better than their team! Do Ya really think so? When are you people going to graduate from political kindergarten? There ain’t no home team in this game.

  8. Trump doesn’t listen to his advisors… Ever wonder why they bail?

I don’t think historically he has surrounded himself with advisors either..

Advisors will tell him to sign it…

Congress cobbled this together and plan to leave town…

Let’s see if Trump has other ideas.

Still he’s nowhere near a veto proof result From either side..dems love this and how hard will it be to get 15 rinos?

  9. I trust President Trump and won’t hobble even if he signs it. He has his reasons, and they probably are really dillies. It will be one of his greatest maneuvers ever.

If you haven’t done so yet, you have to read his books. He lays it all out for you.

The military HAS to be funded, and if more Obummer phones are distributed for it, then so be it.

Anyone who turns on him because of this needs to ask themselves if they prefer the Clintons to be running the show. If yes, then, vote dem in Nov or stay home. Give the dems the house, and senate…just so you can show your disapproval. That will help drain the swamp. Boy, you’ll show him/them.

  10. Who is making Ryan’s, McConnell’s, Schumer’s, Pelosi”s, Cantor’s, Boehner’s, Daschle”s etc families wealthy?

Hint: they will fire everybody in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, upstate New York, and Capone’s Chicago to gain a .3 percent increase on their stock value.

On the bright side, historically, there is always a reckoning. We are way over due.

  11. Then again, maybe I’m just naive and it’s actually the American people getting rope-a-doped by putting our faith in the wrong person.

300 million guns and trillions of rounds of ammo in every conceivable form and we still allow this shit to go on unabated?

Maybe we actually deserve to be fucked like cattle.

  12. TRIAGE.

Everyone wants everything Right Now Dammit! Hold breath and shoot self in the foot if you don’t get your way perfectly 00 whether getting your whole way is possible or not. Just make it all worse… blow it all up…

Primary vote out the pukes in the GOPe and put more conservatives in overall. (And WTH do we need 60 votes in the Senate, McConnell?)

Six — or maybe 18 — more months of spending crap if people don’t do the voting thing. (Hello, district in Pennsylvania.)

But sometimes you have to go into a battle in which you know you’re going to take some heavy casualties.

MILITARY FUNDING IS PRIORITY ONE. Coupled secondarily with the trade imbalances and the economy.

It doesn’t matter what your debt is if you’re dead.

  13. “federal government was abusing the budgetary process”

last budget passed was before obama.

with their continuing resolutions they have doubled the debt, so you can see it works for the lawmakers.

    and they still get re-elected.
