One of the Worst Hitters in Mets’ History Homers

When I say pitcher Bartolo Colon is one of the worst hitters I don’t only mean his lifetime 10 for 129 (.078) Mets record, I mean his form, as well.

Colon swings like he’s going after a bat with a broken broom. And his helmet usually falls off.

At the age of 42 he managed to get his first home run.

Announcer Gary Cohen was so excited he called it “one of the greatest moments in baseball history.”

That’s a bit hyperbolic, but it is a fun moment.

Here are some Colon highlights and lowlights—->

  1. Even pitchers get lucky and hit a homerun every once in a while. Me, I prefer the American League and the DH rule where pitchers don’t have to hit unless they play in a Natl. League ballpark and Felix Hernandez, pitcher for the Seattle mariners did hit a grand slam once a few years ago in a Natl. League ballpark.
