Not that I’m into sending readers away to another site for hours at a time, but I have to give a nod to my pal Pamela for keeping up with one the most enduring traditions of all the conservative political blogs – her Saturday Night Cinema posts.
Every Saturday night, Pamela runs a film. She’s partial to vintage Film Noir, the more elegant the better. (Elegant Film Noir, there’s a phrase you don’t hear every day.)
In another life, she would be a host on TCM. Her knowledge of movies and movie stars is deep, not just on a trivia level, but in a film school way. Never get her started, unless you love that sort of thing.
How long has she been doing this?
Put it this way- years and years ago, before I ever blogged a day, I stumbled upon the free movies on Atlas Shrugs and used to watch them. I thought of it as a movie site, not so much a political site.
You can check out a lot of them HERE.
I watch her recommended movies a lot. I subscribe to Pamela Geller’s email newsletters. After reading each post about the latest horrors perpetrated by moslem filth, by the time the Saturday Night Cinema comes around, I need some escapism. She has good taste in movies! 😉
When I was a kid in the 60’s the house next door had a movie theater in it and
every week they showed a B&W movie.
This was on ‘Mansion Row’ everyone came to there house for the weekly film.
My parents house had an indoor pool and once a week people came for a swim.
Of course food and beverages were provided.
My wife and I have a media room where we watch DVD’s or TCM. I like to watch movies while lying in bed. That’s the best.
If I wasn’t happily married I’d try to figure out a way to impress Pamela Geller. I’ll just be satisfied being a fan. I think she is incredible.
I just hope that they are preserving these old films.
I remember a few years ago a Hollywood studio caught fire and some films were lost.
Personally, I like to buy restored versions on Blue-ray.
I do hope a new format comes along where you can take advantage of the 4K and organic LED technology.
Joe, impress her with your six pack!
Loco, I’d like to but I’m closer to a 12 pak now days.
I still have a 6 pack, it’s just buried underneath the groceries.
Two of my favorites that I had never seen before Pamela featured the movies on her website were State Fair, and the 1939 anti-jihad movie The Real Glory. Two of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
I’ve got two great film noir suggestions you may not know:
Foreign Correspondent with Joel McCrea, a fantastic early Hitchcock movie, and The Big Clock with Ray Milland.
What a great thread. Thank you, BFH! I love that feature over at my site. It’s not the most trafficked post but its my favorite. Thank you for these comments – they mean more than you know.
And Irony Curtain, I ran those movies ♥
