Pass the Popcorn… – IOTW Report

Pass the Popcorn…

Have a Holly, Jolly Kettle Corn Christmas!

Has your nose ever lead you straight to the kettle corn vendor at just about and fair or festival? For those of you who have never had kettle corn, it is a lightly, slightly caramelized popcorn, popped in a sugar syrup which creates a thin sweet coating perfectly balancing the texture and flavor of the corn.

Like bacon, it is irresistible while popping, and impossible to put down once you start.

No lump of coal, but a sweet treat for your distant loved ones or for yourself.

Christmas corn comes red and green, shipped to your or your loved one. Hit the Gilligan’s link and on the lower right and get a treat!

  1. I love popcorn 🍿 whether it’s buttered carmalized, or kettle corn, been stocking up for the day when President Trump gets his electoral votes and the leftists lose their minds, now that’s entertainment. 😁 MAGA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

  2. Haven’t had that brand. I like Fisher’s from ocean city. Been family business since at least ww2 era their caramel corn with peanuts is amazing. They have quite a variety and they ship. The kettle corn is a good treat though.

  3. Add a tablespoon of olive oil to 1/3 cup of kernels,
wait a few seconds for the OO coat kernels and penetrate to bottom of cup.
Dump the OO coated kernels in a paper bag,
    add 1-2 teaspoons of sugar,
    salt to taste.
Microwave in folded closed paper bag until 2 seconds between pops.

    Enjoy your homemade kettle corn.

  4. *BREAKING NEWS*

This is Charlie WalksonWater’s popcorn!!! He’s.ONE.of.US.

Everyone chill out @ecp, with respect, and just hit that tab to the right, it’s there for a reason!! This ain’t the home recipes thread my friend…and CCW does not do this casually on a Friday movie night…it’s part of a business enterprise!

I have had it, and dam it’s good. I knibbled on IT for 1500 miles…all the way home.

We need to support our fellow entrepenuers here…especially when there’s, ‘a tab for that…’

  5. Oh well let me apologize. I missed the link and thought this was posted forgetting the link because it’s not on the lower right on my browser. It’s on the lowEST LEFT, scrolling way, way, way down. I forget that the “right side bar” is underneath everything on the left side. I view this site at 150% size in an unmaximized window, it’s easier on the eyes, but fudges the formatting. I’ll never share a recipe again, sorry.

  6. Mmmm! Bacon in my kettle corn would be like Heaven on earth.
Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis, so I am currently monitoring my food.
Puts a damper on holiday gastro festivities.
I will however share the link with the rest of my family.

  7. Thanks for the recipe, @ecp–I will try that out sometime! I’m not much of a cook, but I passed Microwave 1A, so I should be able to manage it.

Thank you for the link reminder, BFH–just ordered some!

  8. @missinmi. Oh no.
Popcorn took me from diverticulitis to diverticulosis. Had 16 inches of my colon removed as a result. That was many years ago. Let’s just say I am wary of popcorn. Probably an unwarranted concern.

But… as much as I like popcorn there is no way.

  9. Order the kettle corn! But if you can’t or won’t, here’s another kettle corn recipe:

Works best in one of those Whirly Pop stove top popcorn cookers, but I bet it’s just as good in a regular lidded pan.

3 tablespoons corn (or olive oil), dump in 1/2 cup popcorn kernels, add 1/3 to 1/2 cup whit sugar, and start turning the crank over medium high heat. That’s it. Eat. Enjoy.

If you want colored popcorn, add 3-4 drops of food color at the start, with the rest of the ingredients.

    Merry Christmas!

  10. Gilligan’s Kettle corn is great. I understand PHenry’s concerns and others but if you are into it, give it a try. We ordered a few bags around Halloween. When kettle corn was delivered it was left on our porch! Needless to say, the squirrels could smell how good it was and ate through the box along with our pumpkin!!!! That is how great this stuff is!

    God Bless us all!
