“Pathetic Narcissist” – IOTW Report

“Pathetic Narcissist”

The U.S. Daily Sun

A TOP news anchor has been branded a “pathetic narcissist” after he was caught pinning his firefighter’s jacket to look more butch during a Los Angeles wildfire broadcast.

ABC’s David Muir was seen using a clothespin to spruce up his fire jacket while reporting live on the devastating blaze

  1. Not to defend his odious profession and the idiot narcissists who infest it, but if you’re talking into a mic with an ear piece in place while wearing loose clothing in high winds, if you don’t pin down your clothes and the ear piece wire, all that you and the listeners will hear is your coat loudly flapping in the wind.

  2. “firefighter’s jacket”

…let me stop you right there.

There is NO such article of PPE known as a “Firefighter’s Jacket”. A fireman may WEAR a jacket of any description and make it technically a “firefighter’s jacket” in the sense of a jacket belonging to a firefighter, but THAT guy is NO firefighter: and simply because a garment is a garish color and has some reflective tape on it does NOT give it an NFPA rating.

The concept here may be to give the general appearance of a bunker coat, but turnouts are MUCH heavier, MUCH more bulky, and would laugh at any attempt to ‘Pin’ them in the back or otherwise. Turnouts are by no means fashionable, but ARE effective as part of a combination of gear at giving the wearer some degree of heat resistance (and cut resistance) as long as the gathers are intact, the zipper closed, the panel covering it in place, and all the other gear from Nomex hood tovery specifically designed fire boots are in place, capped by a helmet and SCBA mask.

If THIS guy got anywhere NEAR a fire in that airy-fairy getup, he would burn like a Tiki torch at a Jimmy Barbeque get-together in Haiti.

…I dont know if he’s going for a Brian Williamsy level of pretending like he somehow shares in the ACTUAL peril he is covering from a comfy distance or not, but I don’t care WHERE he puts his clothespins, he will NEVER look like anything but a LARPing gay doofus doing a shitty job of reporting on things
he can’t be bothered to actually understand.

Quit trying to look like an actual man, or even as manly as one of the many lesbians in charge of the LAFF.

You clearly haven’t the sack for it.

…which would be the MOST INTELLIGENT thing ever heard from an ABC broadcast…

  4. SNS, Very aware of the bulky turnout gear that most firefighters wear, but the “outfit” Glamour Girl Muir is wearing is what all of the LA firefighters are wearing fighting these devastating fires. Does it have anything to do with a link to the park/forest service in California? These yellow fire garments seem less cumbersome for better mobility.

  5. I’ve trained at one of the country’s top fire-fighting schools. Our instructors worked for the famed Boots & Coots oilfield firefighting company in Houston. Bunker gear, which is what firefighters wear while fighting fires, is supposed to fit loosely. The layer of air acts as insulation. Tight fitting gear would be a death wish.
