NYP: Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy has been voted out of his Speaker of the House role in a move prompted by Rep. Matt Gaetz.

Rep. Patrick McHenry is now serving as the temporary speaker because he was at the top of McCarthy’s secret list of successors.

The South Carolina Republican notably helped negotiate the controversial debt limit deal in May that rankled GOP hardliners. more here

Ya know the last speaker showdown only went through because Matt Gaetz insisted that a motion to vacate stayed on the table in case McCarthy went full uniparty and got democrats to pass spending CR’s etc. Well son of a bitch… he pulled the trigger and it worked. My Congress Critter Burchett was one of the 11 to get it across the finish line… Heh. 🙂

  9. There sure are a lot of mightily pissed off GOPe pols and their conserv-a-media groupies. And they’re pissed at Gaetz instead of what they should be pissed at. JD Rucker at The Liberty Daily puts it this way:

    Patrick McHenry and the rest of the UniParty Swamp majority within the Republican caucus are angrier about Kevin McCarthy getting ousted than tens of millions of Americans being crushed by manufactured inflation.

    They’re angrier about their buddy being demoted than the ongoing lies surrounding Covid-19, lockdowns, or the vaccines.

    They’re angrier about McCarthy getting called out for breaking his promises than for Joe Biden not getting called out for selling influence to foreign nations.

    They’re angrier with Matt Gaetz than with Alejandro Mayorkas, Christopher Wray, Antony Blinken, or Pete Buttigieg.

    They’re angrier about the caucus being divided than they are about the people of East Palestine suffering because they have failed to act on their behalf.

    They’re angrier that Gaetz used Democrats to remove a RINO than they were about that RINO using Democrats to pass his continuing resolution.

    Most of all, they’re angrier about McCarthy being held accountable than they are about the entirety of the Biden-Harris regime NOT being held accountable.

  10. The war is about state versus not state. To change the balance toward representing the people with a goal of reducing the enormous and enormously, obnoxiously wasteful federal state and bringing it, eventually, to heel.
    At least eighty percent of the members of the republicans house are either deep state already, ignorant, or on the start of the grift. All the democrats are state.

    My feel is there is a concerted and collective intent to somehow drag things ‘back to normal’ throughout government and its media… which apparently now includes Fox. Induce amnesia in the proletariat.

    The freedom caucus is pretty much it, and we have to hope they hang in hard.
