When you were in school, did you ever participate in creating a time capsule? It can be fun to share timely keepsakes with future generations. It’s even more exciting to find and open a time capsule. Well, last year, historians and archaeologists discovered a time capsule buried by Samuel Adams and Paul Revere. The box remained preserved from 1795.
When opened, researchers found government records, a shilling and a silver plate made by Paul Revere. In addition, the silver plate had a date marked at July 14, 1795. It is unbelievable to think it was finally opened in January of 2015.
Conservator Pam Hatchfield used a porcupine quill, a bamboo strip and her grandfather’s dental tool to carefully remove the fragile contents from the 1 1/2-inch-deep box. Moreover, it was discovered that the box was placed in the Massachusetts State House around 20 years after America’s independence. According to Fox News, Hatchfield said:
I think it is important for all of us to remember what this country is about. To remind the American people how it was built.
Furthermore, Mr. Paul Revere etched this statement on the silver plate:
This cornerstone of a building intended for the use of the legislative and executive branches of the government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was laid by his Excellency Samuel Adams, Esquire, governor of the said Commonwealth.
This story makes we want to re-watch National Treasure. Who’s with me?

Wonderful story. Thanks for posting!
I can’t think of a better time to remind people of what this country was founded on.
It took them 1.5 years to finally open that box? I remember the article when they first found it.
Did they find Bernie Sanders’ Revolutionary War draft exemption in there?
😉
