Pet Adoption – IOTW Report

Pet Adoption

I get “spammy” type emails all day long from writers, bloggers and bleggers. Some are legit, some are just bad actors phishing.

I usually delete them all.

But this one I read and checked out. It’s legit.

Hi,

I was doing some research on the internet and I found your website and this page: https://iotwreport.com/a-fine-selection/

It’s always nice to see someone stand up for voiceless shelter animals. It’s awesome that you linked to a Pet Adoption website: stayawhilecatshelter.org

We really appreciate this gesture to help animals.

I’m sending this message now because just a few months back, we polled 200 rescues and shelters. From our poll, we found out a lot more about the kind of content they need to help them do their jobs ─ (get more animals adopted!)

Since learning which topics are in demand, we created a series of 12 blog posts that cover hot topics. Such topics include tips for taking care of a new pet, the most common adoption myths (and there are many), and things to consider before adopting.

I was wondering if you would mind linking to our article about Pet Adoption, since you have linked to Pet-Adoption-related sites before.

Here is the link to the article: https://www.homeoanimal.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-pet-adoption

Think about it this way, if you can help one person get off the fence about adopting, isn’t the effort worthwhile?

Regardless of what you decide, we think you’re awesome!

Best,

Suzie

!snip!

She got me with “if you can help one person get off the fence about adopting, isn’t the effort worthwhile?”

  1. Someone dumped a cat off at our house 1-1/2 months ago. It took me 3 weeks to coax her to come near me. She kept hissing at me. Long story short, she’s a sweet cat, has been fixed, demands wet cat food, demands her evening brushing, took her in for her shots, and she has found a home. 🙂

  2. Yep. We love our pets.
Just picked up Petey dog from an all day visit and 3 biopsies on his snout. He’s coming out of the anesthesia now but is a hurting pup.
I hate this probably more than he does.

  3. OK you got me Fur, as one old softie to another. Had one bad experience with county shelter. Got a very young kitten that died within a few days. They neuter too early. That’s all government shelters seem to care about. Bad experience.

  4. My main squeeze Maggie (the Papillion) was a rescue from a lady going into a nursing home and my father-in-law just adopted a 2-3 month old cat named Casper who just showed up on his doorstep and is already the family member in charge.

  5. We had an ‘intervention’ before the youngsters dropped the pup at a shelter. He’s a pain in the ass, a character and the love of our lives. Our vet calls him ‘An All American Dog’. She can’t figure out his pedigree. LOL! As long as he still tilts his head. <3

  6. I got my Sarah four years ago from a group in Toronto that brings dogs (and the odd cat) from rescues in Greece. Greece is a very, very bad place for strays and Sarah was found tied to the gate of the rescue with her young puppies loose around her. As bad as sounds it was blessing compared to what her fate could have been. She’s older now, and slowing down at around 12 to 13 years old but she’s still a wonder. Adoption from a shelter or rescue is the best way to bring in a new member of the family. Good to see the link.

  7. Awww Monday – Good News – Social Media Unleashed
    http://goodstuffsworld.blogspot.com/2017/01/awww-monday-good-news-social-media.html

Many regional animal shelters have turned to social media to help spread the word about homeless pets. As the internet has definitively proven, a photo of a kitten or a puppy is irresistible, and animal rescue organisations are using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Imgur to exploit our addiction for good news. Also, social media posters help to amplify this effort by aggregating pet photos and stories around from around the world.

  8. Crazy cat woman and man here with 14 cats. Plus a small feral colony I trapped and spayed/neutered. We built some shelters for the ones we can’t convince to come inside. The last of the feral females I caught in April has done extremely well. She loves the other cats but is still afraid of people. She also has meticulous litter box habits. The 4 kittens have great homes and mama is now spayed.
