Scientists know that most people like the same color and number, but they can’t explain why. They’ve even named a phenomenon after the overwhelming tendency, but that hasn’t helped them explain if it’s something in or nature or our cultures that make so many of us prefer a certain color and number over all others.

Homer (on phone) – “Hello, Vegas? Put everything on black!….D’oh!…Okay I’ll write you a check.”
I’ve always had a preference for purple pi.
(They don’t mean “number” but rather “integer”)
Really getting to like orange and the number 45.
Liberal journalists chose the colors that represent the political parties. (I’m sure they knew they psychology of colors.) I had always thought red should have represented the democrats (Red China and the Red Soviet Union as well as the massive red blood spilled by socialists and statists of all stripes.) Blue is much more peaceful (blue sky, blue ocean) and should have represented the proponents of small government.
Speaking of favorite numbers: Don’t forget PowerBall is at $403 million for tonight’s drawing.
I immediately thought of red and 7, important in the Bible.
seven Sacraments
The Church considers the first seven Ecumenical Councils (held between the 4th and the 8th centuries) to be the … The most reliable
7 virtues
7 is the foundation of God’s word
There are 7 days in a week and God’s Sabbath is on the 7th day
The Bible, as a whole, was originally divided into 7 major divisions.
The total number of originally inspired books was forty-nine, or 7 x 7, demonstrating the absolute perfection of the Word of God.
There are at least seven men in the Old Testament who are specifically mentioned as a man of God
In the book of Hebrews, written by the apostle Paul, he uses seven titles to refer to Christ.
In Matthew 13 Jesus is quoted as giving seven parables
In the book of Revelation there are seven churches, seven angels to the seven churches, seven seals, seven trumpet plagues, seven thunders and the seven last plagues. The first resurrection of the dead takes place at the 7th trumpet, completing salvation for the Church.
There are 7 annual Holy Days, beginning with Passover and ending with the Last Great Day (the day after the Feast of Tabernacles ends in the fall). The cycle of the holy days is completed in 3 festival seasons by the 7th month of the sacred calendar: Passover and Unleavened Bread, 1st month; Pentecost, 3rd month; and Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles and Last Great Day, 7th month.
Jesus performed seven miracles on God’s holy Sabbath Day (which ran from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset), thus affirming its continued sacredness to God and necessity in the life of the believer.
Red
Circumcision – blood
In the KJV Bible, the word ‘red’ occurs fifty-three times, six of which are in the New Testament. There are several Hebrew Old Testament words translated as this color. The most frequently used words are adom (Strong’s Concordance #H122), which is the color’s name, chakliyl (#H2447), which literally means ‘dark’ or a person stimulated by wine, suph (#H5488 and #H5489), which means ‘a reed’ and is used to refer to the Red Sea, and adam (#H119), which means to show blood or something that is reddish. In the New Testament, the Greek words used are purrhazo (#G4449), which refers to the color’s name, eruthros (#G2063), which is used to refer to the Red Sea, and purrhos (#G4450), which references something that is the color of fire or flame.
The color’s use in Scripture lends itself to symbolically meaning sin and sinfulness (Isaiah 1:18), Godly vengeance against sinners (Psalm 75:8, Isaiah 63:2), bloodshed and war (2Kings 3:22, Nahum 2:3, Zechariah 1:8, 6:2, Revelation 6:4, 12:3), as well as the temptation to sin (Proverbs 23:31).
Then, there are so many the blood sacrifices in the Bible, until finally the Eucharist. The blood and the body of Christ.
Oh well……….guess I only agree with the majority half the time.
As far back as I can remember, my favorite color has been blue. Maybe it’s connected to laying in the grass as a youngster, staring up at the sky and making pictures from the clouds.
I never had a favorite number until high school. I was #6 in a competition and won. Therefore, 6 has been my favorite number since.
awesome Zonga
I guess I am an outlier.
I don’t have a favorite color or number.
But judgeroybean ^^^^^ may be onto something….
The number seven is the number of perfection. And number 5 is the number of grace. Red, blue and green are my favorite colors. Number 9 has become my favorite number because of the rule of 9’s which is that any factor of 9 will always come out as 9. 9 times 1=9, 9 times 2=18, 1+8=9, 9 times 3=27, 2+7=9 and so forth on forever, it’ll always end up in 9. There is nothing random in mathematics, it all makes perfect sense when you know that there is an order to things created by God to help us understand how things work.
geoff
Amen
I like peachy 10’s.
Blue and 63,360 (topo map scale in Alaska (one inch = a mile. simple))
I always liked pink. It was my favorite crayon. Then All the girls liked pink and I thought that I didn’t want to be like all them. So I didn’t admit I liked pink. About 20 years ago I said, “Heck, I like pink and I don’t care about all that other crap. I like pink!”
Liked 7 since I read about the number of perfection in the Bible.
So there.
I couldn’t decide between “6” or “9”, and my favorite color is plaid.
