Police Actions Were Not Justified?

NAACP says Raleigh police actions caught on video were not justified.

cbs- Activists said they’ve been in touch with Raleigh’s police chief and the Wake County District Attorney, and are encouraging anyone with more videos of what took place to send them to the DA.

“Both sides of the story need to come forth to the community,” Rev. Dr. Portia Rochelle, Raleigh-Apex NAACP President said. “We weren’t there.”

Two videos taken by a witness obtained by CBS 17 show Hall on the ground with six officers surrounding him. One officer can be seen striking his back with a baton at least a dozen times.

Another video taken by Bonnie Kidder shows the 44-year-old Hall swinging at police, while three officers surround him.

Kidder told CBS 17 she believes what the officers did may have been justified.

Rochelle and others said that’s not the case.

When asked, Rochelle said they believed what happened Friday was not justified.

  1. Mom, don’t be talking too loud. That’s your messed up boy beating up a flock of cops. Maybe you should take some responsibility for the way your boy turned out.

  2. The good reverend says both “I wasn’t there” and “it wasn’t justified”. Umm, if you weren’t there, then how do you know it wasn’t justified?

This crap is why nobody has any faith in anything a black rev. says. Think Jackson, Sharpton, et al.

  3. Ummmmmm…. do I need to dig deeper or what? big guy minding his own business, walking down the middle of the street is suddenly set upon by multiple lawdogs just looking for some mother’s son to beat……… or what?

  4. When someone is hired to do a job, you assume they actually do the job unless you have evidence that says otherwise.

However, the racist NAACP assumes whites never do the job they were hired to do. When you portray whites as evil, blacks advance. It’s easier than achieving on their own merit.

  5. The resistant man is out of control, it shows. He could be on mind altering drugs, be demon possessed, or both. The video does not show how this incident started, but it is obvious the cops are trying not to stop him by using guns or tasers. The man is dangerous in this condition and does need to be restrained to keep him from harming others. Not much different than a rabid dog wandering the street. So how does a person like this one get stopped? Unarmed does not mean not dangerous. Even the Bible relates incidents involving demon possessed persons being super strong.

  6. MLK Boulevard…they should have sent this guy to dreamland.
He should have been tazed immediately.

It must be impossible to hire good cops these days.
I know the cops are likely walking on eggshells, screw it, get another job and to hell with this fucked up society.

  7. I see videos like this and simply think, “If a perp took a swing like that at me, I would take a step back and shoot him methodically until he is subdued.”

    Bingo!

I don’t know what the final outcome was. But, I would have shot him.

  9. All those officers and not one of them able to put the choke on this guy from behind. That would of been a good start. Then taze him. It was embarassing to watch cops ducking and backing away.

  10. Actions by the officers are absolutely justified. The guy was tased several times. Taser darts still attached to the device are stuck in his side. He is dragging the device as he fights the officers!
So much for the effectiveness of tasers as a way to subdue an out of control violent criminal.

He’s also biting the female officer, who is really ineffective and in the way. At some point he should have been shoot (mentally ill or not) because he had the potential of critically injuring or killing an officer. This incident is a result of socialist policies that are corrupting police departments.

  11. :37 sec video tells us nothing. Who knows if cops received a call on prior criminal activity. Is he known to LE? Does he have mental illness? We just don’t know.

The family states they’re unable to see him and have only been told “he’s alive”. Sounds rather dramatic.
His mother, the Reverend, states, “I pray for the officers and just remind them, they have children too, and what goes around comes around”.
Is that anything like “an eye for an eye” Mizz Reverend?

  12. I’ll give ’em this – the Police really worked hard to keep him from turning into a nuther statistic!
This guy wouldn’t have lasted 5 seconds in a fight with other Hood Rats.
They’d a shot him dead whether any bystanders had scattered… or not!

  13. The shame is that cops go into these situations knowing that they’re jobs are on the line if they over react, if they injure the perp too badly etc. Basically, they’re afraid to apply full force to subdue a perp when he’s black. These days a justifiable arrest still causes widespread protest.

  14. They should think outside the box now and then. A blow with a nightstick across the arch of his foot, or toes would have grounded him quickly. Then they could have Rodney Kinged his big ass.

  15. Tasers….worse thing to ever happen to law enforcement….

Tasers are the first “go to” option….no incentive to de-escalate or know how to handle yourself….just tase them….but sometimes it doesn’t work….then what….use deadly force and kill the person…???

The only time that I’ve seen where police should have used a taser….hands down….was the homeless guy in California that had cut people and taken a hostage and was starting to cut the hostage’s throat….but the police chose deadly force and 20 shots later….the hostage was shot dead.

Law enforcement is a tough job….I lasted 7 years in the late 70’s and moved on….glad I did.

  16. No where does the article state what preceded this encounter. Why were the cops trying to apprehend the man? The absence of this information indicates to me he deserved such a beating.
