I was just at that zoo at Christmastime and the moat is quite large. Also, those lions seemed a little off, but we assumed it was from the cold weather.

Her last name is Israelite, makes me wonder if she’s married to one of those Black Israelite NUTS down at the DC/Covington affair. Her hair looks like those nuts with the bullhorn.
I have a dear friend that volunteers there and reminded of the moat ‘with alligators’ (you get a twofer at the new DJT Bronx Zoo) so that is the reason there was no attack regardless if the lion is fed or HUNGRY or even provoked at the time.
It is a controlled feline and knows its boundaries.
