Pope Francis often asks for prayers for various people in need. At the end of his weekly address at the Vatican on Wednesday, however, he had a surprise request. “I would like to ask all of you for a special prayer for Pope Emeritus Benedict, who, in silence, is sustaining the Church,” he said, calling his predecessor “very sick,” per NBC News. The Vatican followed Francis’ remarks up afterward with a statement that noted the 95-year-old Benedict XVI, aka Joseph Ratzinger of Germany, had seen his health “worsened due to age” over the past day.
“The situation at present is under control, monitored constantly by doctors,” Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni noted. In February 2013, Benedict made the shocking announcement that he would resign as pope, saying he was in no physical or mental condition to run the Roman Catholic Church any longer. It was the first time a pope had stepped away from his post like that in six centuries. Francis, the world’s first Latin American pope, was elected to the position a month later.
Benedict has been living within the Vatican’s confines, inside a former convent, since his retirement.

had a close acquaintance of mine run into a “prophet” last week outside of Gatlinburg. lady mentioned there would be an earthquake before Christmas and that both popes were going to be murdered by years end. one by poison and the other was to be dragged into the catacombs below the Vatican and shot. my acquaintance blew it off as she believed there wasn’t two popes. I reminded her there are currently two, and there was an earthquake last week in California. prophet had told her the end comes soon after. wonder if Benedict was poisoned?
@Sapper Chris: No one knows the time nor the hour of Christ’s return. These Popes are just as responsible for the thousands of deaths of believers, as are the Muslims. Their heart is utterly wicked, who can know it? Read the Book of Revelation if you want to know what’s going to happen in the end times. I’m thinking faggotry will bring it down just like in the past with Sodom & Gomorrah, Rome, Pompeii, so forth. It will be a whole combination of disasters, not just one thing.

There is no such thing as “Pope Emeritus” in canon law or Catholic teaching. There is only one Pope, and it is Benedict. Francis is as much a Pope as Joe Biden is a legitimate president. And for the same reason.
@Goldenfoxx-oh I’m aware of revelations, I just thought this was interesting based on the encounter my acquaintance had. the “prophet” was in Walmart and dressed in an eccentric way it was obvious she had some sort of issue going on in her head. with regards to your prediction of Sodom and Gomorrah style reasons for the calamity to come, there’s been an awful lot of that activity coming out of the Vatican in recent years, and in the US it’s everywhere you look. I’m thinking you’re probably right.
