Rogers was good, very photogenic & great gams (easier on the eyes than Powell .. just saying) & the public’s favorite at the time, but she always relied on Astaire to lead … not that there’s anything wrong w/ that … just pointing out a different dynamic

She let Astaire lead because Astaire
could in NO WAY competently follow her.
Astaire despite his popularity was that
much out-classed

ok, I get it … I admit, Astaire was little better than Sean Spicer on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ … (sarcasm for those that might miss it 😉 )
I was comparing Rogers to Powell … & not in their abilities, but in their interactions w/ Astaire
btw, I enjoy them all … today’s so-called ‘dancers’ cannot compare
(Danny Kaye man, myself … w/ a little Sammy Davis, Jr. thrown in)

“…she always relied on Astaire to lead …”
…what’s the old saying?
Ginger Rogers had to do everything Fred Astare did, but backwards and in high heels…

My knees hurt from watching.
That dress is magnificent, a piece of art considering the fabrics used in the day.

Now THAT was entertainment for the civil society! And what do we have today…WAP? Good Lord!

When Hollywood was patriotic the entertainment was great! Now it’s been bought by the Chinese and all of it sucks balls.

There may have been better dancers than Fred, but his sartorial sense of style was far better than that of Gene or Danny.
…you like old dancers? I got your old dancers RIGHT here…

Thanks BFH
What a classic tune and tap, it takes you back to a time when the living was easy. 🤗
Back then, no camera tricks. No stunt doubles. No CGI.
Just pure raw talent.
We will never see their likes again.
sweet Eleanor was one of my favorite Astaire partners
… & a great, great tune
clearer version … go to the 60 second mark if you don’t want to hear the singers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gChIpYwGJhU&ab_channel=AW720
in the immortal words of Frank Sinatra, “You won’t see the likes of this again”
Astaire was a good dancer
but
Eleanor Powell was FAR BETTER
It is well known that when
Gene Kelly and Astaire where on the same stage
that Kelly had to tone down his act
to not make Astaire look bad. FACT
Astaire ( Friedrich Austerlitz )
was good but he was no match for the best
who was Donald O’Connor !
compare clip w/ Astaire & Ginger Rogers
